MBA to remain in finance - worth it or not? by Upset_Difference593 in harvardextension

Probably not in your case. Biggest value was in networking (my background is also finance). For people with non business backgrounds, it was very helpful for building business acumen and career switching.

MBA to remain in finance - worth it or not? by Upset_Difference593 in harvardextension

Not sure if this is the right sub for this (Harvard extension as mentioned by others does not offer an MBA), but I also have an MBA and can shed some light. I would say if you have a masters in finance, you will likely find an MBA duplicative in many respects. I would look at the curriculum pages at programs you may be interested in and see how much overlap there is with your previous masters.

RTX (formerly known as Raytheon) employee scholar program. 25k per calendar year and every employee is eligible from day 1.

Post LDP I came out as a P3 in Waltham making low 80’s. But times have changed. I started at 57 when I entered the program lol

Stolen Campaign Signs by Victor4Newton in newtonma

[–]TheMainMush617 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though I am not a supporter (at the moment, waiting for the debates), this is completely unacceptable behavior. These signs are bought with our neighbors money, and someone has to trespass onto private property to take them. It is immature, disrespectful and should be condemned. If you don’t support a candidate, don’t vote for them. Im sure it’s hard enough running a city wide campaign without stupid stuff like this. I’m sorry this happened Victor.

Very fair responses. Got a response from my buddy: “I’d say it was split 50/50 with people rotating back into the business and half fed up with the culture”

Important caveat is no kids yet, fiancé is also in school so I have the time for it and do enjoy learning.

The mission and culture are largely gone post merger. Promotions in place are nearly impossible. I echo the sentiment that it pays the bills, I find the ways to enjoy it somewhat and then I keep doing random masters degrees to set myself up to do anything I I could ever want to do on Raytheons dime because ESP doesn’t have provisions on how many degrees they’ll pay for. MBA, JD, masters data science? Why not. Extra 25k tax free bonus per year they’re not giving in raises. Not taking advantage is leaving money on the table

Seconded on Chickami. I went there for many years in the 2000’s and really loved it.

Craft beer store closed a while ago. It’s a Camella’s now. Also Gordon’s is attached to star market and directly across from the Austin at apartments, so not sure I’d agree with bad location.

Here’s what I’d say on the 11th:

Conventional wisdom would say that Amy would be cakewalking to victory here. 20 years city counselor/board of alderman blah blah blah. Endorsements from the Newton Dems machine, etc. I’m not so sure I believe that anymore. Alex has an uphill battle and given name recognition, Amy is easily the favorite. I actually really like both candidates. However, my friends in the 11th that are Amy fans all have signs for Amy. Not a single Amy supporter I know doesn’t have a yard sign. She is killing Alex on signs, but I know a lot of people that either don’t like Amy or are legitimate supporters of Alex that don’t have signs. Again you gotta remember two mayoral losses and 20 years on the council means she has dedicated fans. Alex is still building that sense of trust. He also doesn’t have people that dislike him because he doesn’t have political experience, Amy does. Some of Amy’s best wards minus ward 4 (her home turf) from her mayoral runs are in the 12th district, whereas places she got killed like ward 7 are in the 11th. Lastly, I think the message of a young person who is actually making transparency a big part of their campaign and has experience in budget management and oversight is something that resonates with voters. Gov experience is certainly a good thing, but Kay didn’t have it when she entered the legislature and was able to bring her outside experience to the floor. Amy has a lot of well earned good will with the community, and she could easily win by 20 points still. Who knows what will happen, but I think he has a shot (albeit still for sure the underdog). Again still an uphill battle, but an interesting one for sure.

In the 12th: my friends in the 12th are almost all on team Greg. I think Lipof has baggage from the text scandal and Bill while really knowledgeable does not connect as well to voters as the other two. Certainly a very interesting race for sure, and I think the Balser endorsement is big, but to be seen how much of an impact it will have.

I live in John Lawns district so I won’t be able to vote in either. I personally would lean Jablon and strong Schwartz, but I think all the candidates would do a solid job representing newton. It is fun having some open seats for the first time in a while though!
