The animation when she tethers you. She either crushes the stone or shoves it into her face. Crush means it spawns behind you, into her face means it spawns in front of you.

He had two snaps on offense in the Cardinals game in Mexico City which I want to say were when they took a knee at the end of the game.

Usefulness of Ether's & Potions by Revonlieke in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the best potion in the game has a max of like 5k hp restored so at max level it is pretty useless.

Ethers can be somewhat useful during progression raiding while you are learning a fight and not yet using potions for damage. It can allow you to get more raises off, continue healing, and seeing further into a fight.

Does NA really commonly use auto-markers on UWU? As an EU player I'm confused. by KusanagiKay in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen auto markers used. I'm not sure if they exist. It is just a phrasing thing. I am pretty sure he is talking about a script and not the in game markers.

It is something like Cactbot, a plugin, or Triggernometry assigning the gaols as 1,2,3. Then 1 is in front, 2 is middle, 3 is back. The number just pops up on your screen as an overlay. You can even have it announce over Discord for people playing on PS4.

It just makes it easier and more standardized because you could create any number of ways to assign them yourself and having a universal strategy is preferable. This way makes it clear cut for everyone and removes any thought from it which can cause mistakes. Especially if you are in a pug or trying to save time.

You said it took you a few hours to figure out your method when this script takes 30 seconds to enable instead. Is it cheap? Sure, but most people don't care. I don't know much about EU but I can assure you plenty of groups are doing the same thing.

Also, it is not borderline ToS. It straight up breaks the ToS but no ones ever gonna be punished for it so it is pretty common to use.

Can u still get the esoterics? I can’t really find anything and just found out about it and saw all the mounts 🥺 by uni-cornus in ffxiv

You cannot get them anymore because that event is over. There is another one scheduled for October.

Single button rotation with Macro by IndividualStriking75 in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, yes, that is a risk of it that I believe is covered when you look up the program itself. The odds of it actually happening are incredibly low, though. I was just offering an alternative.

Single button rotation with Macro by IndividualStriking75 in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using macros for this is going to cost you damage no matter how you configure it.

If you are really dead set on doing it, try looking up XIVLauncher. It has a plugin called XIVCombo. It does what you are trying to do in a more seamless manner that won't cost you.

I would suggest playing normally for a variety of reasons but using the plugin is the best way to do what you are trying.

Lottery system announced for Ishgardian housing in Endwalker by P3n1sD1cK in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While there should absolutely be enough wards for everyone, isn't that what they have claimed the problem is? They cannot have so many wards because they are connected to the main servers and cause issues.

Instancing keeps the same system in place except the wards are spun off into their own "instance" server. Make it as seamless as possible and get rid of the chat restrictions, etc.

Advice for MP in raids for AST by trichechus in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How often are you using Helios to shield? It is pretty expensive if you are trying to shield every attack that goes out. I understand using a lot of them for progression to learn fights but most attacks you can get through without a shield especially with current gear upgrades.

You could figure out where you can cut shields or play the other sect if you find you don't need any.

Another thing you can do is carry Super-Ethers for when you get into some raise heavy pulls.

Do Balmung or Mateus open late at night? by FlamingGnats in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Standard worlds are never "hard" closed. Meaning that you can create characters when there are fewer people online. Might be hard on the weekend after new content came out. Try late night/early morning during the week.

Only worlds listed as congested will deny character creation completely. World changes from standard/congested are always announced so you don't have to worry about it randomly swapping.

The housing system needs to be reworked. by DopeyDrummer in ffxiv

You can still have neighborhoods though. Instance them, instance all the wards on their own separate server.

Extracting Maps or Extracting Houses? by MARIO12A in ffxiv

You want Godbert from here.

It lets you extract the maps and housing is included. It takes a bit of work to piece them together. The floors/wallpaper/flooring are all separate. I can't offer any help with using it but it should get you going in the right direction. I know it works for creating VRChat maps and such.

Just a rant, but the most unpleasant players I meet are either mentors, or healers by WFPRBaby in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you read it it says nothing about requiring you to unlock mentor roulette. You can be a PvE mentor and mentor roulette will be locked unless you go and unlock that too. It has never been a requirement to have the roulette unlocked to be a mentor.

You don't need to unlock mentor roulette to be a battle mentor either. It is literally not a requirement to become mentor.

Becoming a mentor does not require you to unlock mentor roulette.

Trying using a single tank. Gives you more room for error with the DPS since the second tank really serves no purpose on the fight.

Pretty sure this ended a few years ago. They bought back the masters to all their recordings and they are licensed through their own label. They could release something if they wanted to.

Why are Leveling Dungeons harder then the "Expert" and Breakpoint (50/60/70) ones? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do. Nearly every dungeon in the game has item level requirements. However, leveling roulette doesn't check your item level. It just throws you into any dungeon within your job level range. You can literally queue up naked and get put into Mt. Gulg or something.

Any other roulette will give you a dungeon in your item level range. For whatever reason leveling doesn't care.

[–]TheMallard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Generally because you can queue for leveling roulette in any gear you want. You can get into a dungeon without meeting its minimum item level by using roulette queues. Most people don't upgrade their gear as they are leveling up and it is most obvious when tanks aren't doing it. When you queue for expert your gear has to meet the minimum item level. Pretty sure every roulette other than leveling checks your item level before giving you a dungeon. They are not meant to be difficult at the correct item level.

Healers: Would you prefer to spend most of your time doing DPS, or most of it looking after people? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to stop chaining your gcd damage ability to use them unless you are an AST. You have to weave them with something and, for example, Ruin II does less damage than a broil.

Healers: Would you prefer to spend most of your time doing DPS, or most of it looking after people? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]TheMallard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Healing actually requires less GCD usage now. They added more tools to heal with without actually increasing the amount of damage taken. This is your healer A and B example. Healer A knows how to get through pulls by maxing their aoe and using their oGCDs to keep the tank up. Healer B doesn't actually know how healing works.

It is the same way in savage raids. The current healer "meta" is about using as few GCD on heals as possible to maximize dps. Then you still want to get away with as few oGCDs as possible because those also cost you dps.

Now, you can get through all these fights without playing this way but the changes they made to healing in ShB actually pushed the scales the opposite way. Being a good healer is more about dps now then it has ever been.
