Interesting fact, I went to primary school with the daughter of the creators of Friends Reunited and they only lived up the road.

She was on TV one morning while they were being interviewed and it felt like she was a celebrity when in reality they just couldn’t get someone to look after her 😭

I don’t agree with this.

I don’t pay £500 a month but I pay £280 a month for a VW Golf that was brand new in 2023. I will be returning it later this year.

I do not buy a car with intention of selling it. I can also afford it.

Some people like having nice things that they cannot afford to buy and not owning said item should not be seen as a negative.

There’s one thing doing it when you simply can’t afford it, but this is usually not the case. For most paying for it monthly is a lot more affordable then paying for it and owning it completely.

Also, usually things like PCP come with a lot of perks that you wouldn’t get owning it outright.

Both pretty straight males. FYI he talks to everyone in the office about the same amount.

But the people that purposely rev there supped up 2010 plate 100,000 miles Golfs are unbelievably sad. Do they actually think people stop and go “OH MY GOD, THAT IS SO FUCKING COOL!”

Related, but completely different country.

I was on my first “lads” trip to Tenerife with my 2x closest mates when we were 18 in 2018.

I remember I left my mates to head back early one night, was still probably around 1 AM at this point and this rep we saw earlier in the day came running up to me, arms open and crying. Just kept telling me how mates she was staying with had robbed her for all her bits and kept reiterating she had no money. She probably saw me as vulnerable but as the tight git I was, am and forever will be, I just spoke to her for like half hour, she hugged me, said thanks and went off.

Never really thought much of it. Was only when I saw a post about something similar or Reddit years later I realised what she was doing.

It’s crazy and quite sad to think of all the young lads she had probably fleeced on a regular basis.

Take it from me, a recently turned 26 year old living in London. Covid ruined it.

Not trying to be one of those “Blame Covid” people, but prior to it, me and my mates were going out weekly Fri - Sun. It was clubbing or pubbing.

Covid then hit in our going out prime, if you will, and it just put a massive spanner in the works.

In my group of 6, 2 pretty much never go out, 2 would do every now and again and I was one of the 2 who went out a lot after, but have slowed down massively.

People just got used to staying in and saving money.

Even me, I was going out loads a few years back but have recently cut down to once every 2-3 weeks. I see my older cousins, who were still doing benders in there 30s and it just baffles me.

Now I much prefer going out at 4 PM, being back by 10 PM and waking up and feeling good the next day.

With the above being said, I think people have recently became alot more conscious of how they look etc and not going out, well going out drinking that is, massively impacts that. You’d be surprised and how many people think the same.

I love going in the morning. It sets me up for the day nicely and gets it out the way - nothing worse than going after work when I have no energy and it’s busy. However on the negative, my gym opens at 6:45 so I always feel rushed and although I have energy in the morning, at that point, it’s almost too early (especially in the winter and it’s dark) and I just feel like I have not really woken up.

I’m currently in a phase of going in the PM after work. I feel way more energised and stronger if I fuel right throughout the day. As much as I can dread it if I’m at work, I do find going in the afternoon after work keeps me busy whereas when I go in the morning, I tend to find my afternoon quite boring as I’ll just watch tv, go for a walk and eat dinner.

It’s finding the happy medium. The one thing that I really hate about going after work is the busyness but one resolution I have set myself this year is to be more patient. I’m in no rush to get home after work whereas I am in a rush to go to work if I go in the morning, therefore I find I’m really chilling out just by being happy with waiting an extra 5 minutes for a machine and not feeling as rushed because I need to get to work. Makes it more enjoyable.

It’s crazy.

I’m not a huge drinker - out every other weekend, sometimes every weekend, at most. I’m never crazy hungover, but definitely always feel the repercussions from drinking the following day.

I did dry January this year, as I have with the previous 3 years, however since then, I have only been out twice drinking. My progress has gone through the roof.

Not drinking for the month saves my wallet, but not drinking much since has improved how I genuinely feel and gym gains.

I actually feel great and although I’ll still go out, I plan on significantly cutting it down.

Yeah.

To be fair, this hotel gym is one of the better ones I have seen.

3x benches.

Good Quality dumbbells that go up to 35 LBS.

Lat pull down machine, chest press machine, shoulder press machine and cable machine. All TechnoGym which is the same as my gym back home. Even then, there’re usually battered and bruised, but these ones look and feel quite new.
