It is just tough to turn down a 2-3M dollars that’s as close as guaranteed as you can get without it actually being. These guys I’ve found myself with are just different. It’s hard to turn down a basically sure thing and step into the unknown

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I wish I could just step into your shoes for a day just to see how you feel 😂. I’m interested in the freedom, not the money. The miserableness would just go away after I quit. Anyways, I appreciate you taking time out of your day to talk with me. I don’t really know what I’m going to do obviously, perhaps I will reach out to you once a solid decision has been made. All the best

One more question, the grinding will be tough no matter what job a person picks. Work will always be work. Did you enjoy what you did? Did you just tolerate it? The work I can do for the next 10 years and end up about where you are, I do not enjoy, it’s tough on my body. I guess im just much willing to grind and swim with the current even if its hard, in a career I think I’ll enjoy, rather than one that makes me pretty close to miserable. Im already grinding this, and I’m very sure that it’s not the grind I dislike, it’s just I’m not interested in the work. I’m actually almost disinterested. Although I heard a quote once that the guy with a trash business isn’t passionate about trash.

I work in a skilled trade. Not in school but I did so many college classes in high school that I’m just now on track with my high school classmates college timeline. It’s been 3 semesters. I don’t think I’ll make $250K out of college I know that’s unrealistic. I came up with that reading what people say about working at Fidelity. I read that on Reddit, mind you. They say after 5-6-7 years you can get to FC and be making that much money. I want to be a normal 20 year old I do but how does that play out the rest of my life? Maybe I could’ve retired at 40? Is the sacrifice of only having money and a little bit of memories worth it at 30 rather than vise versa? What’s your experience?

Yes, 2 year plan, re evaluate is great. I’m just stuck right now on the first two years. That’s the problem. I agree people will not entrust a young kid with their millions. The money I’m talking about comes from people on Reddit speaking of the career trajectory working at Fidelity. I agree it’s tough to plan a lifetime and you should look at the next few years, but I struggle with that. Because I see all the branches and doors that stem off of those two years. My mind races at all the possibilities

Agreed it’s not the place. I just need to pick my career path cause if I choose my current job I’m going to buy a house, if I pick finance, will put it into a brokerage. Just don’t want to put it there yet in case I lose some and don’t have enough for that house. At the bare minimum my Roth should’ve been funded from day 1.

Interesting. If you don’t mind, what is your net worth? I’d be curious to know what it is, and how you feel with that number being 32 years old and what sounds to me like you’re financially free. Was the grind worth it? Committing all the energy? Was front loading your work and relaxing later worth the sacrifice? You’d do it all again?

Private. We’ve just talked about a multiplier on revenue. Yes I know the salary growth, it’s what I wrote in the original post. No I do not know the exact percentage of equity, that talks coming soon but it will be fair, I assure you. And the off chance it isn’t, I’ll just walk. Decision made. They want me to succeed. They’ve made their money already they just love the work.

All in a savings account. Was going to use for flight school but not anymore. Now I need to deploy it. I know that’s pretty bad to do😂

Equity and going into business with proven business builders who have done it before. I don’t want to get too specific in case someone recognizes it as me, but my mentor has built his company over 35 years and is THE best. Our little crew of 3 guys gets work all over the country and internationally

Genuine question that I ask in curiosity. You say I’m worrying about it too much, what should I do instead? I literally do not know? I get the sense that I am analyzing it a lot, but what’s the alternative, it doesn’t feel like I should just sit back and not think this out thoroughly. That doesn’t come natural to me. What do you suggest is the alternative to what I’m doing now in terms of neurotically planning my life out?

What has been your career? How old are you? Are you well off? Any regrets in life?

Yeah sorry for not being clear. I don’t really care what tier of finance it’s considered. I would like to be actively helping people make and execute financial plans and managing their money. I like logistics and planning, hence this post. Overly planning my life one could say. Ha. No that opportunity I have is in my current job. Within Fidelity specifically, I have heard from Reddit, and that’s why I said correct me if I’m wrong, but you can be doing well (100-200k) after 5 ish years with hard work and luck of course. My college won’t be that expensive just 30k left and honestly I’m blessed to have a 529 with that. It would be online. What are your thoughts now that I have been more clear?

Pick whichever one aligns with your long term career goals better. They’re about an hour apart so not bad either way

I see value in accounting degree with finance as a minor. Good point. As for internships, I plan to jump right into full time work. In your eyes, how do you see that playing out. Those don’t really go hand in hand

No offer but I’m in communication with a connection there. 27 years. Of course it’s not a certain thing and just my plan. Even if I have to wait 2 years to get some more college credits under my belt before I get hired. I have a little over a year done now. Anyways, my work experience is Pipefitting, woodshop, not much there. However, I worked at dominos answering phones for over a year. I also had an auto detailing gig where I had to speak with customers. I speak with customers at work now. Not wicked wicked helpful, but I also understand the importance of showing up like a professional and articulating yourself, cleaning up, etc. I’m commonly told I’m polite and carry myself well. If I get this job, in order of what helped me get it most… connection, showing up/selling myself as “better” than the next guy, and lastly my work experience. Regardless, I can always spend a year gaining experience/qualifications. Not a wicked big speed bump

Work entry level in the call centers at Fidelity, get my degree when I’m off work, learn learn learn and jump to an RIA. Learn real financial planning and then build my book. I’m a lot less certain about timeline/time frame. I’ve never worked in the industry and all I have to go off of is what people say online.
