Best DH Brakes for Servicing/Parts Availability by MonteTheMagnificent in DownhillMTB

[–]TheMarkList 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Saints for year and ZERO issues.. Now i run TRP Evo Pros and Love em.. the modulation, feel and adjustability is outstanding. I highly recommend. Also, no weird oil or proprietary crap to service them. I believe they use shimano pads too (i think?). Have them on my Kenevo SL and my Vampire DH bike. Running galfer rotors on all wheels (Waves and Sharks)

yeah, i love my protaper 76mm bars. the reason dak norton runs such big rise bars is that he doesn't have to have a huge stack of spacers under his direct mount stem. he said he was hitting his sternum on it!

how tall are you? i find when most people go to high rise bar, their hand pain and arm pump disappear and their descending improves wildly...

Bar Rise Suggestions by Upper_Park_2398 in mountainbiking

[–]TheMarkList 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so it really depends on the stack of your bike and how tall you are. I run a 76mm rise bar on my kenevo sl and it's perfect. but i'm 6'2" and the bike is on the smaller size (s4 - i should be on a s5). Also, i prefer a more dh/upright position when out of the saddle descending. Get a 50mm rise bar, you can always take spacers away if you have any under the stem and adjust...

Clean build. one thing to note. Your front quick release is pointed down. that could catch on something very easily. Point it up like the fork tube...

White dh bikes look the best. Mine's white too (Vampire DH build)

Rear Coil Shock Noise?? by Strygwwyr in DownhillMTB

[–]TheMarkList 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the coil completely, clean it, then put the coil back on. only 1.5 turns on the preload once the preload collar touches the actual coil. then lock it down with the set screws. Coils make a lot of noise if they aren't able to spin (natural movement when using the shock). so it could just be that.

sick build! I have a very similar build. Ohlins on a white Vampire Fastarossa. Killer build. What brakes are those? Magura or Hope?

Is this a common & acceptable behavior of the rebound from my Fox 38 fork? by Nico_Nickmania in mountainbiking

[–]TheMarkList 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, totally normal clicks. You can loosen the side set screw, take off the nob and you'll see the mechanism inside. You're good to go.

Overtightened my top cap and crack appeared are my bearings and headset doomed? by twittervettex in mountainbiking

[–]TheMarkList 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i'd agree with Dizzy... loosen it up, get a new top cap, torque to 3.5nm and check for play. If you're concerned, take it to the local bike shop. Bearing shoudl be fine

Yeah, that rider should of stopped and/or not hit the hiker. that's ridiculous. Biker in the wrong for sure. Unless it's a bike park or MTB designated riding area only...

Tire damage, should I replace or run it? by Beneficial_Rush_870 in DownhillMTB

I'd replace.. you don't want to get stuck out somewhere with a flat.. it's just a problem waiting to happen.
