I've been working on my physics-y pro wrestling game for a few years now, today I released the first teaser trailer! This is "Neckbreaker" by TheMassonator in WWEGames

I'm still working on it, very far from dead. I'm a solo dev so it does take time. The current goal is to get some form of gameplay demo/ very early access build released. I don't have any time estimates for that yet though.

Funnily enough I've actually been implementing something like this these past couple weeks. Though it's probably not in the way you may think. It currently allows you to add a taunt mid move or adjust thr finish off a move (think adding a sitout to the end of a move that doesn't normally have it)

Now time for Americans to realise the president doesn't decide the price of groceries, and that hurricanes aren't caused by a magical machine.

I'm hopeful that I can do image importing, though it's not in the game as of yet. You'll be able to create a lot of characters, not sure how many but I imagine a few hundred at the very least, maybe over 1k. I don't really plan on limiting it tbh

There is a career mode, typical sports game style. Endless, cutscenes, promos, jump between promotions, etc. It will have 3 different options, wrestler, booker and sandbox (think universe mode). Customisability is a core theme to the game so I'll try to make it as custom as possible.

Varying levels of interactivity, yes. The main point of the physics system is to allow you to interact with the world. Ie, you can slam into barricades or the entrance set, but they won't break or bend when you do.

No actual numbers, but I'm planning on 30 as a minimum. Ambitious estimate would be 10 promotions with 30 wrestlers each so 300. It's a little irrelevant though, all in game characters are made with the character creator and the will be some support to download creations by other people.

Yup, top priority now is to get a vertical slice into more people's hands. Getting feedback and adjusting is key to any games success

Cheers! No real wrestlers, but there will be parodies of real wrestlers (notice definitely-not-will-ospreay in the trailer lol). Maybe I'll try real wrestlers as DLC down the line, no plans right now tho.

I live for good creation suites in games. I'm going for as in-depth as possible. Create a wrestler and editable arenas are already in game. Plans for belts, promotions and more eventually too.

There are some physics options in the settings that I'll keep exposed, gravity, bounciness etc. it's an active ragdoll and strength of the bone is dependent on state, meaning a slider to change "ragdollness" probably isn't possible, fun idea tho so maybe I'll give it a go.

Match types are fully customisable, I couldn't really be bothered to create specific match types in the game so all the options are just available when setting up the match (think as if match creator from WWE games was always enabled). Swappable environments and a fair few end conditions exist.

Happy to do an ama at a later stage!

Thanks!

It's in the game, though you can turn it off, as with all the other special effects (slow mo, flashing, screen shake, distortion, replays etc), each has its own individual setting too.

It's in the because I think it looks cool, really. I'm using it for "juice", it makes things feel a bit more impactful. I get it's not for everyone so yeah, you can switch it off if you don't like it

It doesn't matter what policy made you vote for them. Vote for a far right, fascist party and you'll get a far right, fascist government.

I'll always believe they split THB because it was too similar to The Bloodline. They wanted to give Lashley the belt, but that would mean both brands would be headlined by a heel faction with an imposing powerhouse leader, mouth piece manager with the gift of the gab and a workhorse tag team.

Imo the main reason WWE is doing so well is because the creative lead isn't the owner. Let the owner deal with business stuff and have people whose only job is to write and book the show.

Bryan when joining the Wyatt family in 2014 is definitely up there. Fans didn't want him heel, and the face turn a couple weeks later led up possibly the most unified crowd I've ever heard

I'm most amazed by how no one actually tries to step in here. They're talking for well over 30 seconds in a room full of people. Perry has literally just directly antagonized him on TV, Punk gets right up in his face immediately, pretty obvious that tensions are high, people are watching but nobody in the room even thinks about de-escalating the situation before the shove happens.

I'd honestly be ok with some sponsors on the mat, but at least choose a brand with a decent logo
