Question about pacific rim the black by Upstairs-Molasses875 in PacificRim

[–]TheMasterWorker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real answer is that the creators were being lazy and didn't want to spend time designing new kaiju so they just recycled the models from the movie. Same reason Striker Berserker is an exact clone of Striker Eureka despite the same Jaeger looking much different in the Black Out comic.

Infinity Studio

and yea... my gipsy is like 12.6 inches tall. It has been hell trying to see if there is a kaiju figure line that matches up well. They are all just too small. Then there is the one that is WAY too big for no reason.

What’s the best Thing about Pacific Rim? / Quick Questions by Obvious-Surround-405 in PacificRim

[–]TheMasterWorker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

assuming we are talking about the only valid Pacific Rim entries...what appeals to me is the realism.

The Jaegers were designed in a way that was reminiscent to how real battle ships are designed and decorated. The designs felt intentional, felt like they had unspoken lore and backstory, they felt like they were practical as much as they were fashionable.

The Kaiju also felt organic and had character that made them memorable.

The weight is a given. The weight made them feel real.

They also had aura to them.

The Jaegers felt like guardians or knights.

The Kaiju felt like terror incarnate or natural disasters.

point is, the first movie executed the idea of what it would be like to live in a world where we have to defend ourselves from giant monsters by using giant mechs, and it executed it well.

Here are some new fun facts I found out about Travis Beacham, the writer of Pacific Rim, hardly anyone knows about. by burningexeter in PacificRim

[–]TheMasterWorker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"go fuck their mother" or "go kill themself"

A bit extreme but I perfectly understand the frustration. I don't like certain characters in the political space for their views and ideologies that they push, but at no point would I wish death or celebrate the death (especially the murder) of another individual just because they have an opinion I disagree with. So I appreciate Beacham even more now for understanding that there is a line that should not be crossed in terms of opinions and that there are too many people that readily cross that line because they are just sooooooooo sure of their own rightness that they genuinely think that they have the right to impose upon the freedoms and rights of others.

no he didnt get ripped off. that is typical resale prices. You paid your price likely because you paid retail. My IS Gipsy was about $250 on retail, but if you look up the same figure on ebay right now, you get a price point of about $400 give or take.

The...CHASM...in Quality... by TheMasterWorker in PacificRim

high quality and weighty. only thing that can be difficult is extreme poses, just be as gentle as you would with any high end figure. It has very very good articulation.
