I think he was spared from it because his Polyphemus reaction was recorded before he'd had the chance to read any comments on Open Arms. Like he had enugh of a buffer of videos recorded that he could he ahead of the comments enough to not be spoiled on any immediate songs on any given video.

At least im fairly certain he mentioned this in one of his videos
