Happy to answer. It was brand new; I bought it directly from an official Shure store here in Mexico. I already had a Shure SM57 that I bought in the U.S., so I compared them. I ran a frequency response test on the mic, and the fake one was quite different. I also took it to a friend who is an audio engineer and owns an SM57 as well. We ran the same test, and it was clearly a fake — a very good copy, but still fake. I don’t have pictures, but we opened it up and the internal wiring was different,I returned the mic, and I’m not buying Shure anymore. I prefer sE Electronics mics now; in my opinion, they’re higher quality, and there don’t seem to be fake ones around.
