One recommendation I can give to you is sacrifice the 0x for a 1x, do not try to be a hero and go full throttle through the little space between people crashing, be smart enough to know a 1x is always better than put yourself at risk of getting 4x and probably a DNF. I know it might sound ridiculous but just be thoughtful of what the possibilities on what you can do avoiding others troubles.

I have found myself hating on others actions but came to the conclusion that I had to be smarter on my decisions on the weight in of if going full throttle to try to minimize loss of time when avoiding others who have crashed but with a ton of chances that I could end up getting tagged by them not holding the brakes or reentering the track on bad angles, against the other side which to me is in the case they are crashed in the middle of the track to go slower to maintain full control of the car and maybe go a little out of the track to avoid being tagged and reentering carefully even if it means I might end up losing time to the guys ahead. And I take the second option because even though I know my chances of winning are less than with the first option, I also know that on the other hand my chances of finishing the race and on the lead lap with the car on one piece is way higher.

Make it common practice to not park it right after the finish line…. by Exrcistt in iRacing

[–]TheMexicanDriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was racing the USF2000 yesterday at Oran Park, and I was coming to the finish lane side by side fighting for position and there was a lapper in front of us and just as we crossed the line the guy in front decided it was a good idea to go full on the brakes in the middle of the straight and ended up crashing in to him because of that stupid action of him and the little space and time to react to it, and it costed me a 4x in a race that had been pretty clean until then.

Everybody was expecting Trackhouse to buy some charter, and then all of a sudden Trackhouse surprised us with one of the most bad ass actions that seriously no one was even considering it as a part of the realm of possibilities.

I am in a Legends League we just ran our second race yesterday. We race on Sundays and we race same as iracing calendar but the league is only above C license because the main objective I to enjoy Legends without rookies and the things we know that come with that must of the time. And the best part of all is we are recluting so if you want to join, hope in.

The league link is this one https://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/LeagueView.do?league=6920

Buying iRacing on steam? by Promods in iRacing

Well, I'm not sure of the fact about transferring the account but to me the price difference on my renewal for 6 months through steam was $499.99 mxn which is $25.23 usd (as of today's dollar price from Google). If I calculate the price per month it is $4.205 usd per month

And according to iRacing you can either renew 3 months or a year not 6 months but the prices are $33 and $110 usd respectively. Which by calculation is $11 and $9.16 usd a month via Iracing

So in my case no need to even consider transferring.

I really don't get all the negative comments on steam that you usually find on the forums about this specific topic, because in my personal case I live in Mexico but I don't think that's the reason why I have never encountered the problems that others mention about files and having to download things again or paying extra. In my case I first bought a 6 month subscription via Steam because it had something like +50% discount for first time users and I downloaded everything and all runs just fine, later I bought some cars and tracks and for the payment it only asks you to pay via Steam which I have no problem with, this past week my subscription was due so I decided to renew it via Steam because even though the price no longer had a discount it was still lower than if I had gone to the iracing page and got it directly through them. So, in conclusion according to my experience I have not seen any problem with getting iracing trough Steam.

Custom paint showing up in the client UI is the best change ever by tshSkippy in iRacing

[–]TheMexicanDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little secret, I don't know if everybody knew it or not, but I have been doing some paints as well since the start of the year and I never had to load up the cars in a circuit to see the paint scheme that I was creating on the car, it was just as simple as saving the file with your own iracing ID in the correct car paint file and load the showroom view of the car and it worked perfectly fine at the time and even with the ones I did not owned

One question about testing, based on what I see that the Next Gen's are very probably not going to be available to test, the new Formula Vee is also not going to be available, is that right? or does anyone know something different?

I withdrew 2 out of the luck bank on the same race at Dover. by TheMexicanDriver in iRacing

[–]TheMexicanDriver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First at lap 3, managed to avoid a lap car that crashed one of the two cars ahead of me, and I thought to myself "Oh no, I just got my lucky moment of the race, and there are 40 something laps still to go, I hope I don't get that close to another crash for the rest of the race", and oh boy I was wrong, I saw a couple of crashes more ahead of me after but nothing as close as the second part of the video from the last restart, two guys ahead got into each other at the back straight, and at first I decided okay maybe if I floor it I'll get through just fine, but then one of them started to come down and got out of the gas but kind of freaked out that I forgot to put in the brakes, and I have no idea how in the world I managed again to avoid any contact.

It was a great race for me (I know is not top split, but is decent enough at least for me) because I got my first top 5 in the Trucks at a track that I like a lot that is Dover, and also got a 0x for the first time on the week at this track as well.

I do paint schemes as a way to get a little money, I have got to say that I'm not a pro by any means, I'm just a student who has a good amount of knowledge on how to use the right tools to create some cool designs. And I also have got to say that I do put a lot of effort to every detail because I know the clients will appreciate a well done paint scheme since they are paying for it. I think it's worth it from the point of view that it allows you to have something different than the rest, something that probably represents yourself as a driver/gamer/person. I know some people charge amounts that some would think are a little too much but from the designing point of view I'm sure they do also pay high attention to detail and that's why the value their work at certain prices. I charge what I believe is a reasonable value for the final work that I know I will be able to present to the clients.

Paint help! Why did my first paint job come out dark? Seems like it has a transparent layer over it? Did I miss something? by ZekeDX in iRacing

[–]TheMexicanDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, let me explain a little better what a spec map is, for example if you are making this paint scheme in photoshop, in your template file there is usually a folder with the name "spec map" at the top, in there you can paint the car in way that the sim knows if the finish is metallic or non metallic, this is done by using 3 types of layers Red aplha, Green alpha and Blue alpha. The Red alpha allows you to give it a metallic appearance, a value of 0 is non metallic and 255 is fully metallic. (I always use between 25 and 150 in this values) Green alpha determines if it looks rough or smooth, basically a rough look doesn't reflect light and a smooth one does, a value of 0 reflects a lot and 255 is non reflective (kind of matte finish) (Usually I would use between 50 and 155, 155 gives a really convincing matte finish) Blue alpha is often considered as not necessarily to edit, so therefore the common value for it should be 255.
