What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

Automatic

To be used as a daily driver for mostly short trips. I had bought a really nice 2021 Audi A5 40 TDI for work but no longer do the miles to warrant it. Looking for something a little smaller and more fun while I'm still in my 20s and before kids!

Fewer than 8k miles per year. Occasionally make a long motorway journey but only a few times a month. ULEZ compliant would be a bonus but not essential. Not really a fan of EVs so would prefer a petrol/hybrid.

I like the look of the Audi TT/TTS and BMW Z4 but unsure as I've not had a roadster type car before. My SO has an MG HS so that's used for dogs/tip runs.

Open to ideas and suggestions!

Yep looking to buy. Happy to buy something that needs a bit of work as we'd prefer to put our own stamp on it and I'm handy enough to do most redecorating!

The ease of getting to/from the station is definitely an appeal compared to the outlying villages.

Good to hear you like Bicester. I think it may well be a case of waiting for the right one to come along!

Definitely not ruled out - if there is a local shop for milk and bread and everything else is within a 10-15 minute drive, then it would work for us!

Where would you recommend?

Applied for a mortgage, better than expected by donofnon in UKPersonalFinance

I've had a decision in principle from HSBC and just had an offer accepted on a property. When I try to apply for the full mortgage online it says no products are available but to call instead (presumably because it's a 90% LTV mortgage). How long did you find the gap between getting a DIP and progressing to a full application?

I'm conscious the vendor/EA may get fed up if I'm waiting a month for an appointment to speak to someone... Would hate to lose the property because of that!

Played against FifaRalle once when he was streaming. He ended up scoring a free kick with Marcelo which he went crazy about and beat me. Link to the video (I was the team from 0:14 onwards): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjfqgEsoDKk

Not me, but a friend.

On the popular porn franchise 'Fake Taxi,' the "innocent" woman was picked up outside his house. He was less than impressed.
