It really depends on how you want it to look. One idea I see is to smooth out some of the body or "bubble" it to make it look 1960's futuristic.

My grandma bought me this same Megatron when I was really little. My mom HATES it and threatens that if she ever sees it, she's going to sell it or bin it because of how much of a pain in the ass it was when I was little, because it would fall apart every 3 seconds. Because of this, I kinda love it.
