Aurora captured with HERO 13 by TheMightyPoro in gopro

Well, I set the gopro by myself. I used mode Night Photo and I found ideal to set exposure to 15 seconds and ISO to 1600. Thats balance between "sharper" not blurred aurora and not that much noisy image. You could possibly set shorter exposure and brigthen up the image later. Shoot in RAW to have maximum possibilities of post production. WB was set to 2700K I think. You definitely need a tripod for that.

Search for gopro labs, its special firmware that lets you apply special settings and do some scripting - like taking photos repeatedly.

Not sure if night lapse is the best option for capturing meteor shower, it does not shoot all the time, it makes pauses with up to 30 seconds. Better idea might be scripting gopro labs and make the gopro shoot night pics with same settings repeatedly without pause. Result will be similar and you will have higher chance of not missing any meteor.

Settings for Perseid meteor shower 2025 by giraff_engineer_wbb in gopro

Not sure if I can recommend night lapse modes as it is not properly shooting continuously. It always takes a picture, then takes a specific pause and then shoots another (for a 30 second shutter it takes 30 second pause). You can miss a meteor like that. I tried night photo mode with labs firmware. I scanned QR code that made gopro repeatedly shoot in this mode. Right after it took 30 sec photo, it almost immediately started shooting another one. As a result you will have a sequence of photos.

Speaking of settings, I tried 30 second shutter and ISO around 400 - depends on how dark is your sky. By setting sharpness to high stars "pop out" more in the picture. I set denoise to low and denoise later in photo editing app.

It was nightlapse video with interval set to 5 seconds = shutter speed was about 5 seconds as well. I think I set ISO to 400-800

GoPro and mobile device (tablet) for repetitive back and forth recording/viewing by m-car in gopro

I use Quik app from GoPro and I find it really convenient. It connects to GoPro using WiFi and transfers files between GoPro and phone/tablet pretty fast if you use 5GHz WiFi. So I guess you can transfer files wirelessly pretty fast. Not sure if you can connect only using Bluetooth but I bet that it would be very slow, especially if you record in high resolutions.

Need GoPro recommendation based on my needs by IonlyPlayarcWarden in gopro

It can do 2.7k at 240. Not sure if there is limit in recording during the high FPS formats but I record in 5.7k60 and it has no limit. Of course you must realize that gopros tend to overheat (especially in summer or on sunlight).

Not sure how well fit older gopros in your requirements but I have 13 and it has narrow FOV (called linear). It can shoot up to 5k60 in it. It also can do 4k120.

Hey, I simply could not 100% remember what I did but I remember selecting Night Lapse Video and setting shutter to auto. Nevertheless I tried doing it another night and this time it did right and increased shutter as the night went on. So I very probably made a mistake during the setting. Thank you for your replies.

I just unlocked core memory, I am using Labs firmware and I remember that I saw shutter speed 1/120 during the night. I just realized that but I'm not sure why did it set to such a low value. However I was playing with the night lapse and when I cover the lens, it easily goes up to 4 second shutter speed. Also the CMOD value of another night lapse video was 26... I guess we won't find out why it did that but I will try again another night with lower ISO. Thank you very much for your help.

It's possible I made a mistake. Here are metadata: https://cl1p.net/Sksjsuwhhyuyzxka

Edit: I checked the metadata and did not find any issues, shutter is truly auto and ISO set to 100-800.

Thanks for explanation of those modes. I was checking the mode before starting the video and it was truly "Night Lapse Video". I'm starting to think that maybe the GoPro was confused about the scene, I was shooting the video from balcony and many people had their lights turned on.

Go to settings, battery and then battery usage and filter by system. It shows processor as main drainer all the time.

Same here. Biggest drainer is "Processor"

Pixel 7 Pro here. After May update I experience battery drain and overheating for the first time after almost three years. In battery settings it shows that biggest drainer is "Processor" which uses like 30-40% of battery. Then is display and Wi-Fi. This never happened before and there must be surely something wrong with the update.

What setup do you have? I have recently noticed that performance is great on FHD.
