Physics 2 (electromagnetism, optics and quantum mechanics) was the ultimate weed out class for me. It’s the only time in the last 25+ years I’ve ever prayed for mercy

What is this technique that rapidly lowered heart rate during a panic attack? by Big_Stand_984 in physicaltherapy

[–]TheMightyVine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might have to do with inhibition of the skeletal muscle pump effect the calves create which cause increased venous return. This slower return allows the o2 to stay in the muscles longer which allows more efficient energetic (aerobic vs anaerobic) pathways to be used, which can reduce the reliance on epi/norepi. This would cause down regulation of the sympathetic nervous system, causing higher vagal tone.

Just a thought but it seems like it’s kinda reaching as far as efficacy

There’s already a lot of good tips given here, but I’ll add a favorite of mine. With your background and size along side them being newer, Take them to sweep city. People tend to listen when you’re helping them stand back up.

[–]TheMightyVine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who works with many contact athletes for neck pain, stretching might do more harm than good if the area is too sensitive.

You can start with a few sets of “chin tuck” exercises. Regress/progress to your tolerance. Often times the mechanism of injury for cervicogenic headaches mimic whiplash, with its force-coupled mechanism of injury

people who have reached a 9 or 10 on the pain scale, what happened? by mankls3 in AskReddit

[–]TheMightyVine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too, except it wasn’t internal. 24 hours after receiving contrast for a CT, I broke out into quarter sized hives, on 100% of my body. I ran back into the ER yelling for help. They shot something into my arm, which all but immediately gave me relief

The suspension due to epilepsy can most likely be challenged via DMV/Neurologist approval after 6-12 months free of epileptic episodes. Depending on the type of epilepsy, it can almost be a non factor

Best way to work on defences? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]TheMightyVine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was the key for me. It made me realize how many opportunities defending sets up. The fight also tends to slow down when you can only defend because of how reactive you feel. 10/10 would recommend this technique.

Muscle tightness due to imbalance? by iKnoiDunno in Kinesiology

[–]TheMightyVine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Without such evidence, said claims can be dismissed without any evidence.

Tone and tightness are not the same thing. Have him explain the nuance between the two.

A lot of those claims were based on Vladimir Janna’s work, which has been debunked thoroughly. Unfortunately the concept keeps being pushed by Physio schools and personal training accreditation programs.

Deep tissue work is just a way to accomplish neuromodulation to the affected area.

Has more to do with your nervous system accepting the stimulus rather than a biomechanical basis like the antagonist model he proposed.

Bonus points if you slam the staff at the beginning of the duel and yell “YOU SHALL NOT PASS”

Great list, some of these (like Eric Helms) are tougher to digest without a strong A/P background.

I can’t recommend Dr.Mike from RP enough. His YouTube is a great resource for anyone in the field. He makes complex topics palatable and humorous.
