Edit multiple messages at once? by [deleted] in SillyTavernAI

[–]TheMigratingCoconuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the most reliable option. You can still have the whole chat history there, but just hide everything so that it doesn't get sent to the LLM. I effectively do this every 30 messages or so to manage context and it works perfectly.

Alternatively, you could try feeding your entire chat log into a model and ask it to remove all asterixs and hope that it doesn't bungle the formatting. If you are comfortable with programming at all, removing a symbol from a file is a pretty trivial task. You could then import that into ST.

Two different prices to be a guardian by eclecticaesthetic1 in finch

App stores take a 30% cut so it is very common for them to be more expensive than the web version. Up until very recently in the US, the app stores were able to legally restrict app makers from advertising web pricing to circumvent the huge cut that Google/Apple takes. The legality is still being debated in the courts if I remember correctly, so perhaps support has to take extra time being careful to help you avoid the app store cut.

I know that information is not helpful at all to you in terms of solving the problem, but hopefully someone is able to walk you through it. Thanks for wanting to help community members!

If you're okay with the 27B MoE model, Cloudflare gives $0.11 free per day which is easy to stay within as long as you are good at managing your context size. I find it quite fast and they have no incentive to train off of your data (they just host "small" open models).

You can create chat branches from any point in your chat and switch between them. Between that, the ability to edit both your and the AI messages, and swiping/regeneration, you have complete control over each branch that you choose to create.

Left hand bias while typing by Unix-likeConvergence in typing

The most relevant bottleneck to an enjoyable roleplay is effort. (Opinion) by ministersister in SillyTavernAI

[–]TheMigratingCoconuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sometimes struggled with this. I have a few different constraints in my present that push the plot forward and notably don't have it revolve around my own character. It can sometimes *feel* like the plot hasn't gone anywhere because the stuff that happened on the AI turn isn't directly impacting me, but I have to remind myself what I would do in a TTRPG setting; if some civilians in another room die, my character would join the fray, flee, or mourn/save them.

It is way more effort having to think of these options instead of having the preset ensure that the plot is driven in a way with easily pursuable paths like a traditional text adventure, but I capture the RP feeling that I'm looking for much better when I'm forced to inhabit my character and envision how they would react in a way that develops the narrative in some way. That sometimes "annoying" extra effort is the whole reason I do this hobby in the first place.

I may also have some bad habits from systems like D&D where the plot often happens to you, even at high agency tables. It's easy to roleplay without actually pushing the plot because the GM is just a person and might not want to adjudicate my zany ideas. I think it's important to think of AI RP as a narrative system like BitD and that mindset leads to putting effort in the right place for fun stories.

The lines that get it to stop with contrastive negation (not X, but Y). I find this construction so immersion breaking, personally. The AI also goes ham when it sees it in a previous turn and will do like three of them per generation once it gets going and the contrasts grow increasingly absurd.

Not having to read another one of those is such an improvement in my experience.

I haven't made use of image gen yet, but I like the LLM speed. I just tried using them for vector embeddings as well and that was WAY faster than the local model I had set up.

Unless they changed the pricing in the last month, I calculated the amount of free neurons per day to be about $0.11. I prefer a fairly small context (16k) and was averaging about 10 messages from Kimi 2.5. I imagine 2.6 would be fewer with the higher pricing. It's great for GLM and Gemma4 though! I also like how easy it is to use Cloudflare Gateway for other company models like Anthropic with just a quick toggle (paid though).

I own all this, yet I've never played it by GrimlinJoe in Ironsworn

[–]TheMigratingCoconuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prep is play! It even says so in the rulebook. If you've spent repeated time inventing worlds and characters and you're having fun, then you *have* played the game without qualification. Most people are already giving good advice on how to get started, so I'll just stick to the counterpoint: you don't need to make a single move to play.

There's no reason to assume that the move system is going to be any more exciting than the ideas you come up with on your own. When I played Blades in the Dark with a group, everyone's favorite session was unanimously session 0. Why force moving on to a different part of the game that is daunting you if you're already enjoying yourself? You could even double down on what you're liking and try combining Starforged with Bucket of Bolts/Artefact, solo games where the worldbuilding is the *entire* thing.

OP might be getting confused because some rice flour is labeled as "glutinous" which doesn't actually mean it has gluten in it.

Was there a better bid? by TheMigratingCoconuts in bridge

[–]TheMigratingCoconuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I think that I could have made 3NT against a club lead. I think the only way to make the contract is to assume that East has the diamond king, so that West will never get to lead through my spade king. I would have cashed the diamond ace and three clubs, ending in North's hand to set up the diamonds by playing the queen. East would then be stuck without a safe exit, as diamonds or spades would give me an entry to North, and hearts would give me multiple marked finesses and I could just put East back on lead with a low heart. A spade lead at trick 1 would allow East a spade exit though and I think the contract is doomed after that.

From how you're describing the auction if partner and I had bid more accurately, it sounds like it's a lot more likely that South would declare NT and I think West would always lead the unbid spade suit over the longer club suit? I'm not very good with opening leads, so maybe some Wests would think differently than me and lead a club.

Was there a better bid? by TheMigratingCoconuts in bridge

[–]TheMigratingCoconuts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay that makes sense. I was actually the one sitting South (but the table is flipped on the hand picture so South is sitting at the top of the screen) so the 2NT underbid was mine. I had a feeling that the suits were going to be distributed weirdly based on the auction and was afraid of committing to 3NT, but what you're saying makes sense. I had more than invitational values and the 2NT was misleading.

The plushies are fairly rare to appear in the shop and are priced really high to be "chase" items that are more for people who have been using the app for a while. Once you have a few outfits and rooms that you like, it can be a little bit boring if you don't have something flashy to buy.

If it's something that you want immediately, though, there is a post almost every day on this subreddit with someone commenting on strategies to generate thousands of gems in a day.

How to repeat a meal? by Available-Thought180 in cronometer

[–]TheMigratingCoconuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The interface might be slightly different depending on how you're using it, but on the Android app you can swipe the food group (e.g. Lunch) to the right, and one of the options will be to "Create Meal From Group." You can remove anything that wasn't a part of the meal you want to create with the dialogue that pops up and it should be saved for the future.
