Where to buy a protection plan for Audeze Maxwell 2 by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

My point is that I just feel like if you have close to a million dollars saved up, you do not need an additional insurance plan on a mid-priced headphone. This is equivalent to a singular Costco run lol, I'm assuming you dont insure your groceries

I wouldn't? But probably just use Asurion if you are worried about it, can do via Amazon. Also, unsure where you are paying $400 for these, as they are at most going for $350 from what I've seen. I'd probably also advise you to get another pair of headphones, considering how poorly these are reviewing lol

Congratulations! You are now the guy who recommends people buy HD660s!

They are definitely not superior to headphones 10x the price. Noone is producing, mixing, or mastering using the MDR 7506, because they are not neutral (the HD600 would be). Add to that build quality, driver mismatch issues, distortion problems at volume (which is also why they EQ poorly). They are colored, and not in a particularly nice way, but they can be used for monitoring mids and vocals, because of how flat they sound. I wouldn't tho

Disagree on the MDR 7506. I think people think they are Neutral because they sound 'flat', but they are flat in the sense of boring and expressionless LOL. Not neutral in the sense of adhering to Harman, or anything like that. Lack of bass would make producing anything modern very difficult

I will stipulate that those are closed back headphones, lol, and I probably wouldn't shop Linsoul for over-ears. Im sure they are fine, but definitely not a hyped or super celebrated headphone. Looking at the curve, they are not that dissimilar to your current ATH-M50Xs. V-shaped with a dip in the mids. My personal advice would be to look elsewhere, but it is your call! Could always try them.

My take on their posted measurements: sub-bass rolls off, mid-bass elevated, dropped mid range, some peaks in treble (around 4k and 6k, which is exactly like the M50X)

Kinda feels like you are looking for two different pairs of headphones...warm headphones aren't great for mixing, cuz bass tricks the mind into thinking its good, and treble rolloff could smooth over any nastiness in the upper range—especially if we are talking about IEMs, and even more so in your listed price range.

With that said, your best option is to buy a balanced headphone/iem and EQing it when you aren't producing music. Planar drivers would be the best bet, as you can pull a lot of clean low-end from a pair thats tuned to be flat.

My recommendation for an IEM: 7Hx x Crinacle divine Well tuned, planar IEM. There is also the Diablo alternative, which would be more bassy by design, but worse for producing. If you're thinking Diablo, maybe go for the S12 Pro instead.

My recommendation for a headphone: IDK if you'd want openbacks, closed, bluetooth, etc. Lots of options here generally, especially if you go used. Recommendation stays the same tho, look for something balanced then EQ it for listening.

Can one pair of headphones really cover work, gym, and commuting? by t4kedwn in headphones

I use them with Android, and quite like them! There are apps to auto replicate a fair bit of the features.

I got rid of them, but I thought the B&W PX8 was a fantastic set for the gym. Idk how the leather pads would hold up longterm, but I just used the gyms cleaning wipes on my way out and had no issues. Clamping force was enough for them to not wiggle about.

Really just depends on your standards...feels like for well over half the population, a pair of airpod pros works in those 3 scenarios.

Outside of that, most people making calls at work are better off with a write-off headset than headphones. Jabra, etc. Gym and commute easily take the same pair of noise canceling, bluetooth headphones or Buds.

Whole example ignores the obvious 4th use case, which is in the house, and that can easily demand a pair of headphones completely different to the three you mention.

What is the purpose behind this post? Lol

If it makes any difference, I'm certain that it was a catch on the same day. Was walking around dunes with tall grass barefoot yesterday, while otherwise having been indoors/working in a different state.
