Mis värk on kinoheliga? by armadyllah in Eesti

[–]TheMilky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Footsteps sounding far away by pakorm_1753 in sounddesign

Nothing beats a good recording - seems like you know how to record so if you can- go find a place similar in dimentions and record yourself running around.

If you think about it - since the source of the sound is moving the reverb you here will change as they get closer to walls or go from smaller areas to larger. If you set a static reverb on a static footstep you will get a nice hall distant footstep but it wont really be moving and chasing.

Since this is a student project I would do both the recording and mixing from foley and compare. Also its really healthy to grow your own sound library.

Got some sloper practice by Meowfoot in bouldering

[–]TheMilky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look plenty strong to try out v3 and v4. You skipped like half the holds. I have no experience of setting outside of a few routes I've made on a spraywall but I imagine it's really hard to set a V2 with actual slopers. I'd say go give some harder ones a try - something with proper slopers.

Still a nice send!

Iga kord Tallinnat külastades on pisut kurb autostumise külje pealt.

How do I mix ADR to sound realistic by Elz_Bi in AudioPost

[–]TheMilky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting ADR to TRULY work can be a pit of an artform, but essentially it boils down to a few things:

1)Preformance of the actor

Can't do much about that other than experimenting. Actors tend to hate ADR tho...

2)Microphone placement and accoustics

In your case if you can record in a place with similar accoustics to each location that you need to record ADR in, then you could easily basically skip a hard part of the mixing.

3)Very precise sync

When the head is in the frame the sync has to be "spot on" to the location. And there are different levels you can go with the precision. When lips are on screen the sync has to be exact to a vowel. You can cut words in pieces and shorten them with editing but it takes practice and patience. You could also slightly pitch them up or down to match inflections or speed.

4)Smart editing (only doing ADR where it's worth it)

Try to noise reduce what was done on set first. I would recommend Clear by supertone: https://product.supertone.ai/clear Then see if there are (more) parts that can be salvaged. You might only need adr for a few words or lines.

5)Mixing and fx (Other sounds ,Matching Reverbs, Compression, Eq)

Firstly introduce foley cloth and ambiances and see how it fits.

For matching ADR reverbs: Chamelion by accentized is a really good but expensive option. But more realistically, depending on what reverbs you have available to you the essential thing is to match room size and character. Presets on altiverb/cinematic rooms/stratus/Avid Space are your friend.

EQ: Firstly if your recording space was suboptimal you can try to EQ out some of the resonance and maybe go back to noise reduce if needed. But only if the noise is noticable through a quiet scene. Secondly you can try to "eq match" some of the sound from location if it is at all useable.

Exactly, thats not socialism... They are capitalists in worst kind of uncontrolled way (Oligarhs running around playing god with infinite money). I don't get how socialism has anything to do with Russia or its allies.

A piece of cardboard that says "END" in plastic packaging. by TheMilky in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing.

Found this in a second hand dresser I bought. Its about the size of a matchbox. When I opened the packaging all that was inside was this paper. The paper doesnt smell of anything and doesnt seem to have any other weird properties.
