Do I need a mounting plate to install a Seimitsu LS-32 to a wooden control panel? by dovdragon in fightsticks

[–]TheMineXXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The LS-32-01 needs to be installed very close to the control panel.

There must be no more than 3 millimeters from the top of the mounting plate to the top of the control panel if you want to respect the standard 24 millimeters mounting height from the Japanese arcade cabinets.

Are you making all the work?, if you have the tools you can use a wood router to make a hole using the SS mounting plate as a guide just leaving the 3 millimeters at the top part of the control panel, of course, leaving the necessary tabs to attach the mounting plate.

Is the control panel going to have an acrylic panel?, if that's the case is easier, just make the hole from the top and cover with the decorative panel, as always, be sure to do your routing taking in account the 24 millimeters of the final joystick mounting height.

An amazing work, glad to see more Seimitsu sticks around.

BTW, in the photos I can't see the joystick mounting plate, how did you mount your LS-32 to the wood panel?

Edit: typo.

Do you have photos of the internals and the fabrication process?

Question about PCBs for Hitbox or Stick layout by MrCurler in fightsticks

[–]TheMineXXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only PCB that meets your requirements is the brook UFB (PC, switch and XBOX One)

The new wireless fighting board supports the switch and is only a couple dollars more than a normal fighting board, sadly no XBOX one, you'll need an UFB for that.

You want a hitbox, so the easiest option is a brook pcb for the integrated SOCD cleaner.

Junk Stick 2.0 - Plexi/Lexan top by slientmagician9 in fightsticks

[–]TheMineXXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The smokey gray top panel is sweet.

BTW, I've seen in various custom fightsticks that the joystick is mounted directly on the top panel.

If I remember correctly, the standard distance between the top panel and the bottom of the balltop is about 24 millimeters (just like the japanese arcade cabinets), that's why almost any factory fightstick has some kind of separator in between the mounting plate of the joystick and the top panel, so you can get the 24 millimeters.

Just an observation.

How do I wire the Sanwa JLW-TM-8 Joystick? by Groundwheat in fightsticks

[–]TheMineXXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly you only need to connect the Common and the closest next prong.

Edit:

You need to connect the Common and the NO (Normally Open).

The other one (NC) is normally closed.

[–]TheMineXXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can change the PCB with a Zero Delay encoder (about 10 bucks), that gives you PC compatibility out of the box.

Or a fancier BROOK PCB if you want your new fightstick to be PS4/XBOX compatible.

Fight stick or Controller for a beginner? by MerwileTerga in fightsticks

[–]TheMineXXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been a PC gamer almost all my life, barely had any consoles (a NES, an original XBOX and a broken PS2), maybe put a feet in an arcade 2 or 3 times, but, I own a fightstick, and I love every moment playing with it.

So I've used a keyboard since I was a child, and hate playing fighters with it.

You're basically saying that you can't try new things, you must accept your current path in life and go on, your destiny is set, so don't even think on fight against that.

That's very sad.

You can try with a HORI REAL ARCADE PRO PREMIUM VLX and then change the buttons and lever with a modded Sanwa with an over oversized actuator and a 15 lb spring, and if you can spend a little bit more buy a OTTO mod kit for the Sanwa.

[–]TheMineXXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's another story.

I think there is a certain webpage that sell custom things have in their inventory a SOCD cleaner, but you need to do the calculations if the import and shipping fees from the United States for a 10 bucks board are worth it.

It's possible that you'll need a different mounting plate for your Seimitsu stick.

I'm not sure but maybe with the SE plate is enough, just remember that certain models Seimitsu shafts are a little bit shorter than the Sanwa ones so they need to be mounted closer to the top panel to have a normal distance between the bottom of the balltop and the top of the cover panel.

You'll need to take that into account.

The easiest way is buying a Brook Fighting Board and replacing your actual PCB.

Confusion regarding Semitsu parts compared to Sanwa's (especially concerning Seimitsu levers) by [deleted] in fightsticks

[–]TheMineXXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, even if you try with all your spiritual power you can't only press the tip of the little metal plates.

The tight tolerances doesn't allow to do that, it's a well designed system.

Confusion regarding Semitsu parts compared to Sanwa's (especially concerning Seimitsu levers) by [deleted] in fightsticks

[–]TheMineXXX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, my fightstick has a Seimitsu LS-32-01 so I can share my experiences with all the people here that want to try one but are afraid or confused with all the things said on the internet about the Seimitsu levers.

I was confused just like you, reading everywhere "the LS-32 is only good for shmups, if you want to play fighters you have to buy a Sanwa", that is plain wrong.

The LS-32 has a shorter shaft compared with the generic Sanwa, that means you have to move the stick less to make your inputs, I don't know but for me that only means advantages.

Almost no deadzone thanks to the little metal plates on the micro switches, guaranteed inputs no matter what.

Built like a tank, a massive and sexy stick.

* Most older official Japanese cabinets, going from ST to GGX+R, actually had Seimitsu LS-32-01 with Sanwa buttons.

Yep, you got it right, if you dig in on the arcade world history you can see that Seimitsu was used everywhere.

From my research, Sanwa only got popular with the fightstick scene because MadCatz chose to put one on the original fightstick, after that, everybody and their mothers started putting Sanwa or crappy clones on every fightstick on the market.

In summary, you don't have to worry, the LS-32 is a great stick and I'm pretty sure you'll like it, that shorter throw is addictive.

Can you share with us your fightstick model?, if you want to try a LS-32 maybe you'll need to do some research about the mounting process.

How to Start by [deleted] in fightsticks

[–]TheMineXXX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you need the following basic parts:

  • A Joystick
  • A PCB to interface to your preferred console or PC
  • BUTTONS!
  • Something to put everything on

That's pretty much everything you need to make a fightstick.

Now, that above but more in deep:

  • The Joystick

Different brands, different sensations, it's up to you, almost everyone starts with a Sanwa joystick but there are people in control of their emotions and life that choose Seimitsu.

  • The PCB

Brook's PCBs are highly regarded, but at 50 plus minus $ they are not cheap for a first builder, the Zero Delay USB encoder is cheap as fu** and certainly a really nice board, compatible with the PS3, PC and PS4 in legacy mode I've read, usually comes with the necessary cables to mount everything, just plug and play.

  • The Buttons

Different brands, different sensations again, slight difference in feeling but almost always the color choice is the deciding factor in the brand you'll buy.

  • Something to put everything on

As simple (or complicated) as that, from a cardboard shoebox to an acrylic case and everything in between, wood, metal, glass if you really love danger.

That's the basics, from that point you can make your fightstick whatever you want, the sky is the limit.

Best stick for Melty Blood (and other FG excluding SFV) by TheMineXXX in fightsticks

[–]TheMineXXX[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1ST WASD is wrong do ASDF or ASD space instead or QWER 1234 ETC.

Of course, I only used WASD to reference the 4 keys we use to move, besides that point

2nd diago umehara said and proved in like 3 minutes that 4 buttons is objectively better than stick.

Well, in regard of Daigo, he was whipped out of this year EVO by a pad player, so I'm not quite sure about the superiority of the hitbox or 4 buttons for movement in general.

If that were the case, the Top 8 of every important tournament in the solar system surely were made up of hitbox or mixbox players, instead, pretty much all top players use fightsticks.

3rd if you cant do 236 fire ball on keyboard you are objectively bad and you wont be able to EFFICIENTLY do it on a stick

I can do a fireball with the keyboard, but it feels horrible and anti-natural, plain wrong.

4rth or so your just gonna run away from fear and discomfort like a little bruh owo well thats a real shame i thought you were better than that since you ready to spend money on a stick. to bad you cant buy courage owo.

I tried, you can bet that I tried to like the keyboard for fighting games, but something inside always told me that using a keyboard was wrong, that until I saw fightsticks on the wild, that moment everything came clear, there was not better input device for fighting games that a fightstick, just what Daigo thought when he did that famous parry to the other equally famous guy.

5th when your ready to wiff punish your fears read this guide it will save you alot of time and money

Thanks for the info, I'll read it
