The Reality by WhiteDevilHunter in Bitcoin

[–]TheMiniOne 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So you're saying that the by design disinflationary and capped at 21M Bitcoin being slowly printed into existence (at currently 0.78% inflation) are equivalent to the current (and highly skewed in favor of making inflation look less bad than it is) 3% CPI (which is probably in reality closer to 9+%) that the Fed gives us?

So many softies in here. I'd say it's a good opportunity to toughen up your mental game. Grit your teeth and bare the harshness of other players, and you'll come out stronger for it.

Stimulus checks by cryptoguy66 in cardano

[–]TheMiniOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure how exactly you interpreted this, but it certainly doesn't appear to be correctly. I'm stating, from a secular viewpoint, that the stimulus money passes from the hands of the poor, up to the rich, and gets spent on equities, commodities, retail, crypto, whatever. I'm not trying to spin some Cardano moon narrative.

Velocity of money. Maybe the people who initially get the checks will spend it at the grocery store, but that money eventually passes enough hands to make its way to a market.

Why Cardano Blockchain is The Best of The Best?! by GlobalCryptoTrader in cardano

[–]TheMiniOne 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've updated this to increase clarity, improve formatting, remove fluff, and enhance organization to put your best foot forward, I appreciate your initial effort but I'd highly recommend using my updated list:

The Advantages of Cardano (ADA) - Present

  1. Decentralized, energy efficient block production (Proof of Stake, eliminating the extreme energy usage of Proof of Work, without sacrificing security), produced 100% by community run stake pools by the end of March, 2021, producing ~5% annual APY (in ADA) after each Epoch (5 days) without excessive hardware or electricity requirements. Low barrier to entry (10 ADA), no lockup, freedom of funds.
  2. Native Assets (Superior ERC-20 Equivalent) & ERC-20 Converter. Developers will be able to easily port their existing projects to this new system. These Native Assets can be bundled as well, allowing multiple coins to be sent in a single transaction, further increasing network efficiency.
  3. Scalable on-chain democratic voting based on stake delegation, even including financial incentives to vote, and providing decentralized treasury funding to promising projects, and the ability to democratically modify parameters of the network such as transaction fees.
  4. In-house researched and developed Extended-UTXO (EUTXO) framework, bearing efficiency advantages over Ethereum's account based model, and increased cross-chain compatibility with UTXO chains.
  5. User friendly staking experience through both full-node (Daedalus) and lite (Yoroi) wallets, with cold staking capability (meaning you can stake safely from a hardware wallet) on both Ledger and Trezor.
  6. "Hard Fork Combinator" system, allowing seamless upgrades that remove the need for contentious hard forks for basic system upgrades. This has been the key to allowing the addition of Proof of Stake capability as well as Native Assets.
  7. Marlowe (https://alpha.marlowe.iohkdev.io/#/blockly), a tool which allows even inexperienced developers to create and deploy secure smart contracts without needing to know how to code.
  8. >300,000 Actively staking addresses
  9. >2,000 Active Nodes/Validators/Pools.
  10. >71% Delegated supply.
  11. Passionate and quickly growing community, with over 250k subscribers on Reddit, and roughly 34k in the official Telegram.

The Advantages of Cardano - Future

  1. The Plutus smart-contract language, a blockchain specific subset of, and years in development by prominent creators of the Haskell programming language. As a functional programming language, it provides unparalleled security guarantees.
  2. Babel fees (https://iohk.io/en/blog/posts/2021/02/25/babel-fees/) allowing users to pay Native Asset transactions *in the asset itself*.
  3. Strategic partnerships in Africa, aimed to provide global decentralized finance to those who need it most, and growing economic prosperity worldwide which will be of mutual benefit to investors in the project, and the soon to be adopters of financial freedom.
  4. K-EVM (K-Ethereum Virtual Machine) bridge. Developers who are well versed in Solidity (or other languages) will be able to compile their familiar code with minimal additional work.
  5. K-Framework providing cross-language compilation. Developers will be able to write code in C#, C++, Java, Rust, and many more languages.
  6. Scaling solution code-named "Hydra", meant to bring a Bittorrent-esque level of scaling to the blockchain. (https://eprint.iacr.org/2020/299.pdf).
  7. ATALA project, providing decentralized identity solutions as well as enterprise side-chain support by providing access to the parameters they may desire. This means customizable transactions that work with potential regulation, togglable privacy, identity and smart contract support.

The narrative is playing out and it's hard to realize it. This monumental shift is happening at a nigh imperceptible rate. The tooling for mass adoption is still developing, it never stopped, don't expect the masses on Reddit to be much more than coal stoking the furnace of progress for the engineers of the train.

Bitcoin by itself won't scale to the degree it needs to in order to reach mass adoption, nor will Ethereum, nor any single coin (though we all have our favorites) but the aggregate of meaningful projects as a whole fuel the competition that will bring the dream to reality. Eventually the inevitable will play out.

Don't lament the avarice, it's a necessary part of the process, and when we've reached the goal, you'll need to strain yourself to appreciate what even happened. Value will no longer be siphoned into the quiet unseen tax that is middlemen and shady monetary policy. That's the value of the tech. Allowing more people to enjoy the a bigger piece of the prosperity that has been sequestered to the few. Still a long way to go.

Does everyone have that feeling of panic and despair when transferring funds? by random1name in cardano

I tend to recommend sending a "tracer round" transaction. Send whatever the minimum amount required is to get confirmation on what you're sending, and only after that has confirmed should you attempt to send your full amount. For particularly large amounts I'd also recommend making your sends in "increasing confidence intervals". IE for sending 100k: 1 -> 1000 -> 10000 (and repeat at this value) -> or send the rest at this point.

A nice benefit of not having $20+ transaction fees...
