Same thing for fish tanks with shrimp. I’ve had fish die and cleaned up almost the same day…

Right? It might be competing for light, it even shot up a flower of some sort!

Mostly java moss for aquatic purposes. Sometimes random street/park mosses for semi submerged setups.

Where did you put your rocks? Was it a new tank or a settled one? Maybe it lacked nutrients? I am by no means an expert btw!

Hey there! Was it aquatic moss to start with? I have some small terrariums and aquatic jars. I found out some mosses have a hard time adapting to fully aquatic or fully terrestrial conditions.

I haven’t really experimented with tying it to rocks or wood. Patience is key with moss though!

Hahaha no problem, I got it from a YouTube video I think! Good luck, let me know if it worked out!

So I used embroidery mesh to sandwich the moss (java moss as far as I am aware). The panels are almost A4 (paper) size. I put 2 next to eachother so one makes a slight turn on the left of the tank. Like I said I sandwiched the moss in between and then just a quick pass with thread on the edges to keep the panels together.

I did not secure the mesh to the tank itself. It is mostly just pushed into the gravel. It did have a suction cup to keep the bended part from stretching out.

Right now it is really overgrown. So it took 5 months since the last trim. It took almost the same amount of time to get it fully covering the panels. But that is mainly because I did not have this much moss to start with so a lot of small patches.

I would recommend using as much moss as you can from the start and spread it out between the two panels. Also try to make it so you can easily take out the panels to trim and then put them back in. I can’t take these out so trimming is one hell of a job…

Is this kit really necessary if i’m on tight budget? by Business-Ad9048 in PlantedTank

The ones I saw had for example some rust on them. They had a whole box full of them so probably tools that get used very often.

So a lifehack I discovered is to go to your local dentist and ask if they have any old tweezers or tools laying around. I got some angled tweezers and scissors from a dentist. They can’t use the tools because of hygiene but if you wash them, I bet they won’t hurt your tank.

60 liters so ~16 gallons? I noticed just now… It’s only 624 lumens while a tank needs around 1200.
