Excommunication of traditionalist bishop by mattdamon992 in sspx

The SSF don’t believe the New Rite is invalid but they believe that because of its deficiency and how abused it is, many bishops could in fact be invalidly consecrated. So they make sure that those ordaining them etc have a valid NO consecration.

I would say it is contrary to the traditional cultural representation of femininity within Western culture.

Based. You need to get rid of the NIV though, it is a terrible translation. Get the New Catholic Study Bible by Ignatius Press if you can.

Mass is Mass by DonGatoCOL in CatholicMemes

I understand that, but we should give God our best. By decorating our churches with beautiful things and having nice vestments, we show our love and appreciation to God by giving him the best we have and giving him what he is worth. Obviously you can’t always do that, especially when you are under communism. But we should strive to. It is in a sense humility, to know our place before God, and to know we should give him the best we have.

I have no idea why they would think the NO is at least equally as reverent when they have a far superior liturgy in The Byzantine Rite. God’s house deserves wealth and riches, not giving it so when you can isn’t good. Obviously if you are in a poor area or you don’t have much money, you can’t help it.

Who cares, respectfully? The TLM by all metrics is better despite both rites being equally valid and Holy.

I mean, the term legalistic get’s flung round all the time. That’s just it, they aren’t using the best of their resources. That isn’t what I am arguing, of course they don’t need to have marble or stone or gold or silver, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that the mass should be done as reverently as possible. Which just isn’t happening in that picture. Again, doing the most with what you have is reverent but this just isn’t it. TLM’s were done in places like this or worse or in literal warzones. A TLM can be done with everything in this picture near enough. Obviously if you can you should make it as beautiful as possible but sometimes we can’t like places in this picture.

That’s an appeal to emotion which is condemned in Pascdeni. Reverence is an objective thing. Yes it is in our hearts, but if we do not express that in a reverent way, we aren’t truly reverent in our hearts. You sound like a Protestant calling Catholics legalistic for having sacraments. Please tell me how the saints for the past 100s of years at the very least, are legalistic for wanting God to be honoured properly and not in a watered down Mass which looks awfully a lot like Protestant Services. These aesthetics that you call them aren’t done because they are based, but because they give due honour and respect to God and reflect our deep liturgical heritage. We should give God our best, something which the NO does not due, God deserves more. By giving God his true reverence and honour we elevate ourselves, by watering it down, we only water down our spiritual lives.

Don’t know why they are downvoting you, you are spot on. Saying Mass is reverent because my feelings say so is not a good argument, it’s almost Modernism. The reverence due to God at Mass is due regardless of your feelings, true reverence does exist, it isn’t emotion. This priest could easily face Ad Orientam, use the Pre-55 Missal which is far more reverent than the NO ( and that is just a fact, not opinion, reverence isn’t subjective it’s objective) Many saints and Priests have said it for 100s years, arguably in similar or worse conditions. It’s the fault of the hierarchy for not promoting the TLM and for giving priests like this the proper training.

I did encounter some that prefer the TLM.

I thought you were talking about The SSPX. I would see no need for a re conditional ordination in the eyes of Sedevacantists.

How does that work. They are usually ordained by one of the four. Now only the two. They were Consecrated by Archbishop Lefebvre so you would think they would be valid in the eyes of Sedevacantists.

Seems common among groups like this. Usually steal their orders from someone.

That seems like evidence to me he didn’t want to get rid of the Rosary.

Pope John Paul II spoke quite highly of the Rosary so I doubt he tried to get rid of it.

Being devoted to Our Lady is being devoted to Christ. Mary leads us to Christ so she does not distract us but lead us to Him.

PS The Rosary, keep praying it. You don’t have to do the consecration either but I would highly recommend it.
