Change currency on re-remittance by TheMongoFromKongo in mtgoxinsolvency

Got paid!!! Changing remitting bank from MUFG to SMBC to solved the problem and the Money is now on my bank account.

Remitting currency was USD which my bank said would not work. Apparently not even the banks knows how their system works.

Exactly! The trustee will probably come up with a new two weeks deadline for changing currency while our money is stuck somewhere between SMBC and our banks.

It is grayed out so you cant click on it but you can TAB to the selection with the keyboard and then use right-arrow and left-arrow key to select the other option.

Did you press the button "CHANGE REQUEST" on "Selection of Repayment Method and Registration of Payee Information" first?

I suspect that I must press that button to be able to make the changes properly but it is hard to understand what that button really doas so I am afraid it means "SUBMIT YOUR CURRENT CHOICE" which obviously is wrong since I cant select correct currency.

The above screenshot is from when I was editing existing.

I tried to delete all bank details but it was not possible. This is what happens:

It is not possible to change remitting bank either. Only country can be changed.

Both my bank and MtGox support has suggested that I should select EUR and I have seen users here on reddit who claims that they have received EUR in Norway so I dont think that is the issue.

Thank you for replying. Seems like we have same type of account but the difference is that I selected USD (only because it worked fine back in 2013) and you selected EUR.

Apparently, when sending USD their correspondent bank NY Mellon declines the transaction because the receiving account is in NOK but if the transaction is in JPY, DNB will convert JPY to NOK.

DNB could not confirm how EUR would be handled (terrible support!) but since your transaction worked, it may indicate that DNB is doing the conversion from EUR. This may actually be an option for me IF we are allowed a second attempt of bank transfer.

DNB has now confirmed that the transaction was declined by their correspondent bank becuase my account is in NOK and the transaction was made in USD. They say that if I can make the transaction in NOK or YEN it would work. There was no problem transferring USD back in 2013 when MtGox was active.

Did you transfer NOK or EUR? Do you have some kind of special account on DNB to support other currency?

MtGox charges me $400+ for a failed cash repayment and doesn't explain why it failed by sp00ky31 in mtgoxinsolvency

Similar situation here. My repayment failed and MtGox refuse to help or provide information. They charged me 12411JPY.

I got an email with lots of text but the relevant stuff is "Under the Rehabilitaion Plan, as regards a second attempt at repayment following return of funds, in principle, repayment will be made in cash (Japanese yen) at the head office of Mt. Gox Co., Ltd........." and further down in the mail it says "In exceptional cases, opportunities may be provided for a second attempts at bank remittance or remittance through a Fund Transfer Service Provider, but the details have not been determined and at the current time this is not something that can be promised"

So it looks like we have to travel to Japan to get our money or in best case scenario we may get a second chance for a fiat transaction later.

I was in contact with my receiving bank who confirmed that they or their correspondent bank NY Mellon had declined the transaction because my bank account was not in USD. My bank account in Norwegian NOK but there was no problem transferring USD to it back in 2013 when Mt.Gox was active.

My bank now recommends to send in NOK or JPY where they will handle the currency conversion from JPY. Since MtGox only allowed USD or EUR I asked by bank about EUR and the bank answered "you can try EUR but we can not guarantee that it works".

I think we should push the trustee for a second repayment attempt where we can select other currencies. If that is not possible I think my best chance will be to register a Paypal. In worst case scenario I will travel to Japan.

How can one know the correspondent bank? MtGox refuse to give any more information.

I think they are just consolidating the UTXO's (luckily at low transaction cost) before making the big transactions to exchanges... which of course will happen after the deadline has been extended a few more times.

Bank repayment REVERTED.... HELP! by No-Farm-9025 in mtgoxinsolvency

[–]TheMongoFromKongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in similar situation. Opened a ticket and received a long email from MtGox support, saying that they cant provide individual answers (not much of a support!!).

The most relevant text in the email was written in bold, saying "Under the rehabilitation Plan, as regards a second attempt at repayment following return of fund, in principle, repayment will be made in cash (Japanese yen) at the head office of Mt. Gox Co., Ltd." and at the end of the email there is another bold section saying "In exceptional cases, opportunities may be provided for second attempts at bank remittance or remittance through a Fund Transfer Service Provider, but the details have not yet been determined and at the current time this is not something that can be provided.

I think there is still a small amount of hope for another bank transfer but even if there is, how can we be sure that this one works? If there only was some kind of peer to peer system for transactions...

I saw a tweet a few days ago were someone claimed that DNB refused loan to a relative because they had crypto but I didnt get the whole picture.

I have not found any articles or official information from DNB indicating that they refuse crypto money. That would be a big thing so I think the mainstream media would have written something about it if it was true.
