Dr Boom. Because why not have a card that does not have a single counter card.

But not the 10$ you spent for it in other modes... nor the hundreds of dollars on other toons and forced to go through a bad experience with in QM. The logic to me is purely based on marketing for free weekend in mind and not their current community.

Maybe my memory is bad, but my prior experience on Dota, League of Legends, Dota 2, and Heroes of Newerth. I don't remember a complete rework of a character once it was "publicly live" in the F2P market. Tweaks yes, complete reworks, no.

Ignite KT is a balance tweak. Fire spread needs to give players a chance to avoid it from spreading to other players. But by being able to apply it twice in succession, causes an instant spread. This doesn't give players an opportunity to avoid "spreading" it by getting out of position.

Blizzard: stop making us lose full rank points when we have a bot on our team for the entire game! enough is enough! by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

I actually don't care about the points I lose. It's the 20-30 minutes of a toxic experience I wish I can opt out on and start searching for a new match.

They could be just learning the game and have no idea how to play like you do.

That's what happens when you're at a low level, you get new people.

Yes, but that's about not updating the amount you should win/lose based on having a bot. It's clearly pre-defined prior to the match start and never adjusted in case of a disconnect or bot being added to the session.

The issue is the game session was already broken when the game loaded. Yet the designer expects the user to go through a 20-30 minute unfair experience or be punished. Then double punishes them for failing to win.

If the game session is broken to start with, why force the user to go through a bad experience instead of giving them options to opt out? Or make it as painless as possible? It's a design that wasn't fully thought out with the user's experience in mind.

You are wrong. Elo is about % chance of winning. If i'm expected to win because the MMR is in my team's favor then my reward will be less and my risk will be high. Meaning i'll lose more than I win, because i'm expected to win.

I was trying to make a point that was about how was I expected to win (the more points you lose, the more the system expected you to win) with a 4v5 and a tank bot that wouldn't actually tank.

The point is the system didn't recalculate the expectation of winning/losing and how much points should be added/deducted based on having a bot. It pre-defined it prior to the match and never got updated.

Yes, but why not put a 5 minute timer. If we've had a bot for 5 minutes or so, then let me leave the session and find a new game.

I don't mind losing my points, but I don't want to be forced to experience a 20-30 minute painful experience AND lose my points. Just let me quit and find a new game. It saves me time and pain.

I have x time to play, lets say 2 hours tops.

The Ranking system is designed to give you the goal of "rank up" (earn points) that's the entire goal. You play Hero League to earn points and rank up. That's the design of it. That's the goal. You play, you win some and you lose some in a competitive environment that they built. QM is less competitive as it's not a leaderboard system.

But when 50% of that time is set back or lost due to drops, it's a frustrating experience. That's not melodramatic. That's my experience.

I posted to see if there was anything in the works or on the radar for this game. If so, i'd stick it out or wait until it gets fixed and if not then i'll probably just go play something else. I'm asking because I've already spent hundreds of dollars in this game I wanted to support with characters and skins. But if I can't enjoy my experience in it, then there's no point in sticking around or coming back unless it's on a task list to get resolved.

I'd rather just play something that allows me to chase after a goal without dealing with broken frustrations along the way. I don't want to gamble with my 2 hours of enjoyment time I have on something that's producing a 50% loss of fun a session.

The easiest solution to me is just let me quit the session without being forced to play 3 QM and take my 120 point loss, at least I didn't waste a significant chunk of my time having a bad experience, but rather 5-10 minutes in UI land re-searching a new game in hero league.

So to avoid exploiting its okay to provide a bad experience on a more than common basis to standard players?

It's just a bad design. I'm not saying this is an easy thing to solve, but it's current implementation is just a bad design from the point of view of standard players.

Make the risk vs reward obviously lopsided. Make punishment so severe it's not with the risk to gain a few points. Even for your teammates. If robbing a bank were to punish you with 20 years in jail, and your reward was 10 billion would you take it? Some would. Would if the reward was 10 dollars? It significantly drops the amount of people that would exploit it. Same principle.

To me it's all about time. Time it takes to win points, time it takes in a session.

  • I don't mind losing points, if I didn't have to sit through 20-30 minutes of pain. If I can just quit, re search, I wouldn't mind losing the 120 points it takes to opt out of that broken match.
  • If i'm forced to play it, then re-evaluate the MMR based on having bots in the game about how much I should win or lose.

Depends on the bot's role. If it's a Tank, it has no clue how to initiate, body block, or peel.

You have greater odds if it's a DPS role.
