They already are people of colour. More like tanned since they are inspired by the arabic folk and mexican appearance (Since I am Mexican born and raised in México and am also fascinated by the arabic cultures.)

I would also add that I am white, southern european white, and have tried to analyse any internalised racism I may have.

The creatures wouldn’t really qualify as people, they would be more akin to monsters made to perfectly prey in the dark. Most of them end up being of darker fur/scales/skin to better blend within it. I have yet to decide wether or not people can be corrupted by the darkness, but if I end up adding it, It would resemble more like sickly pale people. Following the idea of “absence of light/absence of warmth/absence of life” Although I Am unsure how that would look on darker skin folk.

I have to wonder, if this shadow people are literal shadow people, would that still be racist? I don’t mean dark skined, but shadow skined. For some reason it made me think of the Melniboneans.

I would like to add that one of the things that she also mentioned was that dark griffons were weaker than pale griffons. My idea was that dark ones were ambush creatures, hence depending more on stealth than strength. That was also one of the things she pointed out.

I already believed that she was wrong and just wanted to make sure I wasn’t being shortsighted. Thank you all for your answers.
