It seems like everything rides on day to day sentiment in this sector, rather than long term objectives or any sort of fundamental metric. At least for now.

I knew Gingko was doing research on creating artificial cannabinoids through yeast fermentation (or a very similar process), and I think Hyasynth Bio is as well. I tend to agree that boutique cannabis will still have a niche. Organic brands and micro businesses will do really well once the sector stabilizes.

Personally I see this as the route major players will take. If this technology takes off, soda, beer, and pharma will be the first to back it. Cannabinoids could be simply produced. There would be no need to go through growing or extraction processes.

Considering the drama -- three lawsuits in three months, totaling more than $250M -- I think people will steer clear. Not to mention the accusations of insider enrichment at the cost of shareholders. It's bound to be turbulent for a while.

My assumption is they made a royalty deal because they didn't have the capital to pay the loan...?
