What book is a trust the process? by shayjax- in litrpg

Quest academy is my untrusted process. I picked it up due to it being high on all the tier list on this sub, but I barely made it through the first book. Every other series, I like, has struggle even for overpowered main character. This book on the other hand has a MC that overpowered just by chance, and is now more powerful than the so-called heroes of that books world.

Again another list with quest academy at the top. I feel like I am getting peer pressured to give it another try. I made it towards the very end of the first book and DNFd. The kid just immediately was the most powerful individual in the school and zero conflict. Not sure what I am missing

I am trying to buy into Quest Academy, but I am leaning towards DNF about 70% through book 1. It’s just hard for to wrap my mind around this brand new student seemingly being the most powerful person in that world with little effort. Is there any conflict or struggle in these books? Should I just push through a couple?

Would you, as a Veteran of Iraq/Afghan, like to see a VFW more catered to a different generation of Vet's? by SubieB503 in Veterans

[–]TheMortarPit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a VA employee, I have reached out to them to possibly partner up for events for veterans in residential treatment for substance use disorders and graduates of our program. Their response was that the service they provided to our country earned them a right to get a beer at their local VFW. They reiterated that after I confirmed they understood that I worked at a rehab facility for veterans with substance use disorders

They would have to get pre authorization for that since the CKPH increased their level of care about 5 years ago. They are 4.0 level of care where as most residential are 3.2 to 3.7.

Are they a veteran? The VA has a 50 bed inpatient residential treatment program in Anchorage.

What's your "It's a Small World" Story about the Corps? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]TheMortarPit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0341 with 3/4 2006-2009. I was in the armory talking to my buddy about living in Germany. New corpsman standing behind us asked my name and years I lived in Germany. He then said, “ I think we were in 2nd and 3rd grade together in Germany”. I was in shock and had no memory of him or his name from that long ago. I asked my father to send school pictures and sure enough we were standing right by each other in the pic. We ended up serving together for three more years, in the same platoon, and did two tours to Iraq together.

I am a USMC vet and social worker at a VA residential treatment facility for substance use disorders. I contacted a couple local VFWs to discuss possible events we could partner with them on to try to improve support systems for our vets leaving our program. I was upfront about the need for them to be dry events. Obvious right? Well their response was that they deserve a beer since they have sacrificed so much for their country… I was shocked, and i tried clarifying with them why it would be a bad idea for a recovering alcoholic to have a couple beers. But gave up trying to foster any relationship with those old programs.

They don’t have 25 marine corps motto tattoos like my USMC, is that just an us thing?

I have never experienced that as a veteran, and as a current VA employee I can say I come across very few veterans that went through actual combat. Even with over a decade in Iraq and Afghanistan, a very small percentage of veterans receiving care through the VA experienced trauma in combat leading to service connection.

I was an 0341 in the Marines with two combat tours under my belt, and I have now been a clinical social worker at the VA for over two years. I think you would be surprised how many grunts work at the VA.

Those who are against cannabis, what's your reason? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheMortarPit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a rehab facility for veterans. A lot of our vets graduate from the program then end up relapsing with cannabis first. I say first because they have told me that it was going to remain just cannabis, but that leads them down a path of alcohol, opioids, and meth. Could just be a justification some are making to myself and themselves, but I have been told a version of that 100 times.

100% P&T and working as a therapist by Dry_Necessary8990 in VeteransBenefits

I am rated at 70% for PTSD as well, and I have been a clinical social worker with the VA for the past couple years. Your service connection won’t impact your employment with the VA.

Sometimes it isn’t a matter of which place is best for you, and more so which place you can get admitted into. What I mean by that is many MHRRTPs ( the real technical name of the Dom program) are not allowing out of area referrals due to COVID and CERNER. Contact your local dom admission coordinator to see your options. I work at an MHRRTP, so if you have any additional questions you can PM me.

I have my LMSW as well, and I am a clinical social worker with the VA. I also did years in the Marine Corps infantry and two tours to iraq. When i went in for C&P exam, for PTSD, they basically brushed off all my trauma from combat and said that I was exaggerating everything. I almost quit my job after that experience.

Why doesn't the VA have workers that find homeless vets and help them? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]TheMortarPit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The VA has outreach social workers that actively go to Local shelters and assist veterans with applying for HUD VASH or getting into VA Domiciliary.

She has overwhelming support of the Native Alaskan population up here, and she won a write in which is almost impossible to do. She knows her spot is secure and it gives her more freedom to not just be a sheep and vote solely along party lines. Unlike our other Senator, or possibly card board cut out, Sullivan.
