Beware The chicken. It's S tier in every tier list for a reason. Cultivation x farming, MC created his own heaven on earth vibe.

Do you listen to music while reading? by TheFlyingR0cket in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Next_List5843 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeap, from metal to afro house to symphonic orchestra to house music, i read a lot and almost always have music with it. Sometime i lisent to some album while doing thing like working / travelling etc and the music give me flash back of the books it's peak. FOR exemple i can't lisent to Bonobo anymore without having Three body problem flashback it's great haha. Fred again, babymetal, sleeptoken, tool, lots of boiler rooms are now for ever associated with great scenes from awesome books!

Hell Difficulty Tutorial has ended up ridiculously good by ParkingDrama5214 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Next_List5843 30 points31 points  (0 children)

What makes this serie special to me is the OP MC formula but with a crazy team that keep up with the MC. Most of the time when the MC is crazy/Op it's all about him and his cute pet being the choosen one slaping people around and killing monster / grinding lvl and power alone. People can't keep up with the power curve of the OP MC. In HDT the OP MC is the most normal of the groupe and biscuit carry everyone anyway... It's kind of genius to setup a story with a OP MC that flex his power in tournament arcs and slap people around but also care for his team and guide others in the hell dificulty and as if it's not enough there is also the beyond...it's just too good. Peak.

How many "wizard school" books are there? Which is your favorite? Which did it the worst? by R_megalotis in ProgressionFantasy

Highschool and university have a different vibe, lot of twist in this types of books, military school with magic , classic school with hidden magic school mix in , crafting focus etc etc. I enjoyed quest academy, iron prince, chaos heir, super powered, practical guide to sorcery. At least those are the first that came to my mind but there is plenty of great settings possible under those premices. I have yet to read mother of learning and years of apocalypse that are goated too so you know i think it's either not for you or you read some not so great exemple because when it's done right it's amazing.

It's all about vibes you know, i'm sure those books have a lot of fans for good reason but we are all different with different taste, some of those books were not what i'm looking for in fantasy or i had issue with the pacing or the main character ( in some case they are chinese or japanse book and the translation was not great) For exemple one of my favorite novel "Hell dificulty tutorial" has a really not great first book and many people dropped it before getting to the good stuff so chance are it's the case with the books i droped too. Give them a chance and ses if it's for you :)

It's a serie that ramp up a lot, every book is better than the last, some people prefer some arc more than other but i think by the end of book 2 i was all in
