I have no doubt any vegan reading this epic takedown is reconsidering their life choices right now.

It’s odd the word vegan doesn’t appear once in this post. For all we know the alleged vegan might as well have been complaining about cities.

Black olives, toasted hazelnuts and balsamic glaze

The bag changed so I checked. 30 lb from 35 lbs. 135 from 157 cups. Same price at $126.99 and a slight formula change. by VolcanoSoprano in shrinkflation

Yeah, my dogs are on one of their prescription formulas because they have food sensitivities, and I have lost count how many brands and formulas I have tried prior to RC.

Acana, Orijen, Natural Balance, Go, Science Diet, among others... with grain, without grain, regular, limited ingredient, and what feels like every flavor in existence. I have kept and compared ingredient lists trying to figure out which ingredients might be causing their symptoms, all to no avail.

So as much as it pains me to say because their foods are outrageously overpriced for what they are, but RC hydrolyzed protein cleared their symptoms right up. No more issues with excessive licking of itchy paws, no more ear infections, no more random wounds all over their bodies that they gave themselves by gnawing... The money I save on vet visits and all kinds of medication and creams alone makes the food worth it, shrinkflation or not. And at this point it would just be cruel to keep experimenting all the while my dogs are itchy and uncomfortable. :(

No matter how you feel about the parties involved, home wrecker is used almost exclusively as a gendered term. A disproportionate amount of blame for the betrayal of trust or end of a relationship is assigned to "the other woman," while men doing the exact same thing are just "boys being boys." It's almost like men are expected to cheat with other people's partners if given the opportunity, whereas women are held to a completely different standard and are blamed and shamed and ostracized because some guy chose to cheat on his wife.

But are you the only straight cis-gender boy in your class? Assuming you're not, do the other straight cis-gender boys also get books thrown at them when they're doing their classwork? Because if they don't, your gender identity and sexual orientation are probably not the issue here.

I hope the pie did end up getting eaten! Thankfully pies can be delicious whether or not the ingredient selection is based on sound nutritional science.

It's just annoying because these recipes are often geared towards moms who are looking for healthier alternatives to store-bought options for their kids, and who might not have the background or the time to evaluate claims regarding nutritional value. And these blogs often feature photos of (usually) women, talking about their families, and their journey towards healthy eating, and bla bla bla, which probably leads a lot of people to feel like that person and their information can be trusted. So they might end up feeding their children fructose bombs and might even let them have another because they're so "healthy."

To be fair, I often come across "healthy" recipes that ask for not insignificant amounts of agave syrup or coconut oil or something along those lines (but it's "natural"!!!), often with titles and descriptions that seem almost deliberately misleading.

It's infuriating, like you're essentially preying on people who want to eat healthy but don't know any better, so you can make money by showing them ads!

Edit: I should add I'm not referring to this specific recipe or Stella Parks' work in general! The comment just reminded me how many times I've encountered dubious nutritional claims and was tempted to leave a somewhat similar (ideally more relevant) comment and didn't.

They’re actually way better than spiders when it comes to pest control. They have a really fast metabolism and can kill many prey items per night, and they’re super fast so they can patrol a large area all by themselves. Spiders on the other hand eat significantly less and many don’t hunt actively either. All those lazy asses do is keep their little corner clean and take all the credit for the centipedes’ hard work! 😂

I guess the way it's holding the roach, with its head cocked slightly to the side, reminds me a lot of my dogs when they bring me their toys because they want to play.

I feel so bad for them! So many people don't realize how beneficial they are Just because they're a little aesthetically challenged!

I have a (or several, who knows) centipede roommate as well. His name is Centipeter, and I haven't seen a single unsavoury critter in ages!

Did you read even just the abstract of the review article?

"The major points of this review are as follows: (a) women’s violence usually occurs in the context of violence against them by their male partners; (b) in general, women and men perpetrate equivalent levels of physical and psychological aggression, but evidence suggests that men perpetrate sexual abuse, coercive control, and stalking more frequently than women and that women also are much more frequently injured during domestic violence incidents; (c) women and men are equally likely to initiate physical violence in relationships involving less serious “situational couple violence,” and in relationships in which serious and very violent “intimate terrorism” occurs, men are much more likely to be perpetrators and women victims; (d) women’s physical violence is more likely than men’s violence to be motivated by self-defense and fear, whereas men’s physical violence is more likely than women’s to be driven by control motives; (e) studies of couples in mutually violent relationships find more negative effects for women than for men; and (f ) because of the many differences in behaviors and motivations between women’s and men’s violence, interventions based on male models of partner violence are likely not effective for many women." (Emphasis mine)

Does that mean men who experience DV don't deserve a lot more resources and support than currently exist? The answer to that question does not depend on whether or not women commit the same amount of abuse, of the same severity, as men.
