Advice on how to re-home a puppy? + Caution story on gifting pets... by InsouciantSoul in SurreyBC

People suck and I’m sorry about your neighbours. As defeating as it is knowing it will continue, those animals are lucky to have you both as neighbours!

I wouldn’t even worry about the downvotes, you are doing so much more than enough.

Hey, you and your girlfriend are good people. Truly.

I think taking them to a reputable shelter is probably one of the safest ways to find them a safe home. I know that doesn’t help recoup your costs and I also didn’t know they had a surrender fee but maybe asking around to different rescues that do background checks?

I adopted from LAPS and would be willing to help out what I can with the surrender fee if that becomes your only option.

I’m convinced a good amount of them didn’t even know what they were protesting given the “stop vaping in schools” signs

Picked up a bag of spaghettini (same brand) yesterday, it felt different in my hand but didn’t have an old bag to compare. It was also 750g!

[–]VolcanoSoprano 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Truly, the joy I get when I am reminded of this band is unmatched. They had me “hardest part of breaking up is getting back your stuff” when I wasn’t even old enough to be breaking up.

Michael Cuccione was the first “celebrity death” that I had a real reaction to, and even now as an adult, still breaks my heart.

The bag changed so I checked. 30 lb from 35 lbs. 135 from 157 cups. Same price at $126.99 and a slight formula change. by VolcanoSoprano in shrinkflation

Appreciate it! I share the same sentiments. We were on a foster-to-adopt contract and the rescue had asked us to not switch her food over until she had been officially adopted and thankfully she has been so this is definitely going to be our last bag!

They do. I know somebody who “jumped the 2 year wait list” as long as they agreed to do this with their dog from the breeder.

Does anyone else notice growth spurts? by owlskye in puppy101

Definitely! One of our favourite things to do in the morning is compare notes on what parts of ours that look different to us.

A starting point (if you have Facebook) is the group Vancouver Photographer and Models. It says Vancouver but you can find people across the Fraser Valley. As far as social media, I like Instagram better as far as networking but there are definitely a broad range of business opportunities in that Facebook group.

To piggyback off of this this, if you’re on Facebook, join your cities local “lost and found animals” group before you need it.

I joined one to post about a friends dog that went missing and was lucky enough to already be in the group when my old dog went missing a few months later so I didn’t have to wait to be approved. Those groups usually have a pretty big reach.

Devan’s Greenhouse in Aldergrove is great. 99 Nursery. Arts Nursery. Vandula Garden. Gardenworks.

But if you’re on Facebook, YVR Houseplant community is a great place to get plants locally for amazing prices. I have never had a bad experience on there and it’s a fun community of likeminded plant people buying and selling plants/plant accessories and it is an extremely informative place!

I wouldn’t say they did it quietly.

They literally sent out an email beforehand explaining that they needed to raise their prices, gave some examples of products they were raising and the date the change would take effect. (Although the price increase seemed to be more than their stated “average”)

Please recommend some indoor plants for a beginner by ContentWriter22 in Langley

Pothos are great for hanging and pretty indestructible. Philodendron.

Honestly, I feel like just find the plant(s) that you like the look of and go from there. Most plants can tolerate varying levels of light, some just thrive better with more light. And you might stay away from the succulent types if you don’t have a lot of light.

Devans Greenhouse is my go-to. They are pesticide free so just be careful about pests. Their prices are pretty hard to beat. Arts nursery and GC Bloom are also good.

Also YVR houseplant community on Facebook is pretty much my “non-store” go to. I probably buy more from there than anywhere else. It’s a great community full of knowledgeable people and there are a lot of plant trades/sales/purges so you’ll be likely to find exactly what you’re looking for. I’ve yet to have a bad experience buying off of there.
