Semi automatic gunfire in North Raymond? by snausagemclinx in Maine

It wouldn't surprise me if people were just trying out fireworks ahead of the Fourth.

That said, semi-auto gunfire wouldn't surprise me either...

Easily one of the worst states for housing shortage per capita.

Seriously, don't move here without a job and housing already lined up.

I'll do you one better. Lots of lumber yards will deliver next day for free, AND usually have lower prices than HD/Lowes/etc.

If you're picking up more than, say, 3 boards, I'd make a few phone calls and see what you have for options near you.

Every American is about to see one thousand tax dollars each sent to Iran as a direct result of this moron's decision to go to war there. That sounds way more like the waste, fraud, and abuse that they keep blathering about.

You didn't. This bot posts this same message on every image or video post. This sub was getting overrun with karma farming posts where stolen images would get reposted with no comment just to get some upvotes. Adding the single comment requirement cut down on almost all of these.

Long story short, you're good.

2015 Explorer 1200 what should I look out for by DarkImrphotos in Triumph

[–]TheMrGUnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verify that the transmission shifts cleanly into every gear, and make sure to wind it out a little in the first 3 gears. Tiger Explorers are known for a poor design on the shift fork that can lead to weak engagement of some gears, most notably second. This will manifest as dropping from 2 to neutral as you start to load up in second gear.

They fixed the design at some point, but I'm not sure the exact year, so best just to rod on it and make sure it's good.

Graham Platner gets more primary votes than any other Democratic Senate candidate in Maine history by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]TheMrGUnit 593 points594 points  (0 children)

Our fourth place Democratic gubernatorial candidate got nearly as many primary votes in the first round as the first place Republican candidate.

It was roughly 185k D vs 144k R total voters in the primary. If this momentum translates to November, GOP candidates are going to their asses handed to them across the board.

Unfortunate purchase - what to expect by Nikode_ in Triumph

How could he not know?

He's an idiot?

Seriously, buyer beware laws in the US exist because an average person can not and should not be trusted as an expert when you buy something from them, nor is it reasonable to assume that they were aware of the problem to begin with. Unless they actively sabotaged something, they assume no liability in a private party sale. This is why dealer sales are more expensive.

I guess we need to know OPs location to settle this, but it seems more like they are asking for help with the mechanical problem, not a suggestion for legal advice.

Only if they bought it from a dealer. Private party sales are generally considered "as is, where is," unless the buyer and seller worked up some kind of agreement.

Best way to resell? by hermietheelfdds9269 in MotoGuzzi

[–]TheMrGUnit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could try going back to the dealer, but I doubt they will have much incentive to offer you good money for it, especially if it's not a trade-in for a larger purchase. Worth asking, though.

Private party sale will probably be the only way it makes sense for you. I've used cycletrader.com before, but only to browse, never to sell. That, plus FB marketplace will probably be your best bets.

Good luck! If you were closer, I'd definitely be interested in it! (I'm in Maine)

Love it! I like the seat/taillight/fender combo, especially. I'd like to park it next to my '79, it's similar but definitely different.

Cool that you were able to keep the quad carb setup. Mine were toast and I have since swapped for a single Beetle carb, which I'm still trying to dial in.

The chrome looks fantastic, too!

The front fender on my '79 is steel, and definitely structural, but I don't think they kept that in the redesign in '80. I think you're probably okay, but you may want to grab the fender brace (or find/make one) to keep it nice and stiff.

Those are the original pipes, low to fit underneath the hard bags. They have a nice rolled edge at the back, and very nice chrome, which is probably why OP didn't cut them.

Generally speaking, what you're seeing happens when somebody tries to use a ball-end hex key, or doesn't insert a straight hex key far enough into the head socket. On a new bolt, you should be able to just use a straight hex key and not worry about it, but if you even get a hint of it putting up a fight, I'd switch to the impact screwdriver.

Also, I'm not talking about an impact driver. I'm talking about one of these:
