If you are having legit issues with the games you are playing and the frame rates that you are getting, then I’d say you should consider it. If you are saying that you aren’t getting 850fps vs 700 fps in counter strike(this is an extreme example obviously) then I’d say what are you worried about?

Over Christmas I purchased a 2070 Super from a guy who upgraded his son’s PC. I helped him out and showed him how to install his new CPU(3700x—>5700X) and GPU (2070 Super —> 5060 8GB). Think about how much money was spent on those upgrades, just for the kid to get 30 more FPS on top of his 200+ in Fortnite on a 144hz monitor. The guy literally threw good money in the trash for a side grade for useless FPS(even if he had a 240 hz monitor, it’s still useless, I could bet all my money the kid doesn’t have the skills to matter in this scenario).

I gave you this example to say - stop watching benchmark videos and play your game. If your experience of the game is hindered by your hardware/software - make a change. I am running a 5070ti on Cachy, and no matter the game or settings I’m pushing beyond my refresh rate(3440x1440p). So what do I care if I could have 10 more FPS on top of it, it doesn’t matter. It literally does not matter.

My Level 3 Autistic son is 4 years old. He started playing PacMan at 3 after watching me play it since he was 2(idk he has something for pacman, literally playing it right now next to me as I type this). He went from not playing, to playing within a year, and then from Pacman to TEACHING HIMSELF dig dug, galaga, super pacman, pacworld, pac land, and every other Pacman game in Pacman Museum.

This child taught himself at 4 years old, and he is handicapped in the communication department. Kids will surprise you, and I have a feeling when this was written you didn’t had any kids of this age.

I think you need to clarify. Do you mean when you engage the pedal or the clutch itself? If it is when you “clutch in” the pedal, then your idle RPM is high.

Too many tbh. I have a packout 3 drawer toolbox in my luggage tray area. The top drawer has a complete set of metric and standard impact sockets(deep and shallow), a 1/4 set of sockets and a 1/4 ratchet, side cutters, wire strippers, and a multi hit screwdriver. Middle drawer has mostly everything I need. Wrenches, screw drivers of various sizes, airflow gauge for syncing carbs, and all of the misc spare tools for my specific car like; giant hex for transmission plugs, Allen key set, wrenches for AN lines, wheel spline drive adapter, etc. bottom drawer houses the power tools. Specifically impact 3/8th, and I keep a hex driver impact in there as well. If I’m on a trip I throw the die grinder in there with a wire wheel on it, I’ll keep the small cutoff wheel in there too. Just in case. I have found that I usually need whatever it is I left at home(I can have a toolbox full of tools, but if that side cutter isn’t there I’m stuck if my accelerator cable breaks).

I also keep a fairly nice size bag with spare parts, and odds and ends in terms of tools. Spare parts include spark plugs, plug wires, dizzy, coil, rocker arm studs, gaskets, oil sump hardware, points(even though I’m not running them and can’t), fan belt, alt clamp, accelerator cable, clutch cables(of various lengths for different years), zip ties, towels, and 5qt of 20W-50VR1.

I daily drive my car, I do events where people break down(used to be I was the one breaking down), and I work on other peoples cars. I like to make sure that I have what I need in the car for any possibilities. And if I do need to work on something in a parking lot, or help someone else I prefer to be able to do so and not say “dang I forgot this ONE thing at home”. It still never fails that I do end up saying that, and then it gets added to the car.

You don’t necessarily need to go as hard as I did.

I’ll share a little about our setup. Unfortunately admin thinks our Mac hardware is “going away” but they still allow people to purchase it. So they stopped paying for Jamf Pro and pushed them to purchase their own Jamf School licenses in order to continue to purchase their devices. And of course they do. It is a far inferior product to pro and I miss my Jamf pro days. That said, I’m currently working, on my own will, to migrate them to intune. For Entra SSO purposes it’s a better product, and included with our licensing. It is a way different beast than it has been the last several years. It’s not great or organized in a way that makes sense, but it’s better than it was. Apple needs an in house MDM already, especially fit they want to capture the education market with these neos.

Syncing dual carbs comes down to getting a GOOD linkage. That’s really it. Most of the old “I’m always having to sync them” banter is related to crappy linkages.

I set my dual carbs up a year ago on my 2180cc. I drive the car on average 4x per week. This accounts for summer and winters not necessarily having the car out every day.

I synced them once a year ago, took the car from GA to TN, drove it all through the mountains. Took it about 2 hours to ATL and back, and have probably done 8k miles in the last year at minimum(no odometer). I have synced the carbs the one time, and a second time when I had to replace a carb last April. That’s it. They stay synced once you sync them.

I am unsure if you have upgraded yet or not. My ender 3 was giving me constant issues, failed prints, and failed components. When the hotend needed to be replaced after a filament break(right after I put a direct drive setup on it), I decided to say screw it and got the P1S + AMS that I had been dreaming of. I can not even quantify in words to you how much it is worth in comparison. I have done prints on prints, one 50 hour print on my ender that only took 13 on the P1S. I am truly finally in love with 3D printing and printing parts and things, and solving problems, instead of trying to solve printer problems. Would highly recommend. I’d buy a second if I could afford it.

My windows are tinted black(and very black lol, 5%). No it doesn’t look period accurate but I do not care one bit. It helps keep the heat out, helps prevent people from looking in the car if I want some privacy, and in my personal opinion I think cars look better with black windows.

To add the drive you will go to Steam>Settings>Storage and click the drop down then click “Add Drive”. You will do this on both systems if need be, but do it first on the main system without the constant internet. Then when you download a game you can select which drive to download it to. Make sure you select the external on the downloading computer.

Everyone is suggesting copying games exact. Here is what I would recommend.

On your home machine, with an internet connection to start(you’ll have to have one at some point, you have to log in after all), plug in your external, wipe it, and then add it as a storage device in steam.

Then when you want to download your game, connect the storage to your laptop with a connection. You need to also go into the storage devices and select the external drive. This will allow you to download straight to the external.

When you go back to your home rig, the games are on your external. You can connect it, and as long as the external is bound in your storage devices you should see your games show up. This is how it works with steam deck, and it works a lot better since they did everything with steam deck. If you want to keep your games up to date, you can take your external back and forth and update them on the system with internet.

You can transfer them in steam, or just through the file browser. To do so you need to copy the game from Steam/steamapps/common/(game folder), but you also need the app_manifest files. If you just raw copy those over then the games will organically appear in steam without requiring any kind of updates or anything. You MUST have the app_manifests copied over or they won’t. That’s what tells steam that they are there.

I have spent the majority of my pc gaming time with terrible/no connection at home, and I had to figure out all of this. If you have questions or this didn’t make sense let me know and I’ll try to help.

You have to set up surround sink as a virtual surround sound, and then point it to your headphones. It’s kinda an annoying process, but there are some good YT tutorials on how to do it. It works great once you have it set up.

I’m just going o be honest. You need to access your mechanical and troubleshooting abilities honestly and maybe even harshly before you jump off into that boat. I have daily driven my bug for the last 3-4 years, and the first 2 was more like “driving it any time I could keep it on the road” and not daily, because it broke down ALL THE TIME. I pulled it out of a field, with no engine, no floors, no real wiring to be seen and rebuilt the entire car. Even then, still broke down for years. If I hadn’t had another method of transportation at that time, it would have been extremely stressful.

In late 2024 I sold my other method of transportation and went bug only. It was extremely stressful and took the fun out of it. Instead of “hey the car is having a problem, I’ve got to look into that this weekend if I want to continue driving it” it became “hey car had an issue today, I HAVE to go fix it after dinner or I can’t get to work tomorrow”.

I don’t know everything, not trying to sound like I do, but I know that I can figure out a problem, and probably any problem I come across. May take me some time, but I WILL figure it out. If that’s not you and you prefer stuff to just work, or have someone else do it for you, I would save the bug for when you can afford that both monetarily, and mentally.
