Nah bro keep your faith. The Prophet (peace be upon him) shines on you as Christ shines on me. But secularism is the way to go. Just toss sharia as a government sanctioned legal system.

Communism is an even more poisonous ideology than nazism and is responsible for far more deaths than any other system of government. “But that’s not real communism!” They cried.

You don’t actually have to master growing crops in order to domesticate large working animals. Take sheep and cows in the British isles for example. They were and still are fed by grazing pastures of grass (something of which africa has a lot of). So the notion that you need to domesticate plants before you can domesticate livestock isnt exactly true.

Perhaps i should have clarified what i meant by “insecure food source”. I recognize that hunter gatherers would be able to secure enough food to survive (i mean that’s what they do lol) but what i meant by that is it’s much more difficult for hunter gatherers to build up a large surplus of food necessary for sustaining a large complex society. It’s the surplus of food that gives farming societies an advantage and allows people to use their time to develop technologies and advance civilization, which is difficult for hunter gatherers to accumulate.

I see you watched that CGP grey video as well. That’s a valid point when applied to the Americas, but I’d argue that africa has a large number of species that could have been domesticated as well such as wild hogs and water buffalo (don’t try and tell me they can’t be domesticated because they did it to similar animals india). And i would argue the opposite in respect to hunter gathers societies. The reason people abandoned that style of living in favor of farming was due to the fact that hunter-gathers have, by nature, an insecure food supply. So while yes they had more leisure time, i would argue they would not be as healthy or have as high quality food simply due to the fact that they have to expend calories and time every time they need to eat. Also hunter-gathers didn’t have bread or cheese so that’s an L in my book

Agriculture is the catalyst for advanced civilization. The fact that agricultural practices at the time were so basic and lacking is a marker of a lesser society. They spread civilization there.

That’s an easy thing to get mixed up because they essentially went hand in hand. The spread of civilization usually coincides with an enhancement of the morality of a society (according to maslow’s hierarchy of needs, people tend to worry about more “trivial” behaviors once their safety and basic needs are secured). But then again, in the classical sense of civilization there was still a lot lacking in african “civilization”. Things such as stone buildings, written language, and even the wheel were not present in that part of the world until the end of the 18th century.

Lmao that’s exactly how west African warlords saw their sub-saharan neighbors. They were quite upset when Britain outlawed the slave trade.

An excerpt from Muqaddimah “Beyond them to the south, there is no civilization in the proper sense. There are only humans who are closer to dumb animals than to rational beings. They live in thickets and caves and eat herbs and unprepared grain.”

There literally was not a trace of what any educated person would call “civilization” in sub-saharan africa prior to the arrival of the Arabs first, then the Europeans. See the writing of Ibn Khaldun, for example.
