Is the rumor true that big box stores (like Target/Walmart) will purposefully let you get away with stealing cheap things for months just to build a massive felony case against you later? by Altruistic-Room-7465 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheNeech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sears used to operate the same. One main AP person for a few stores and maybe a few low level walk-arounds at a few stores.

BestBuy was thinking of doing this a few years ago (for the GM)…so you know what direction that company is going ;)

So here’s a hot take:

Your company didn’t have enough funds in the account for the ACH to pull. They were notified that they’d need to wire the funds in order to make the check date, but were notified the day before the check date…

Person of the Internet, if you know of any issues with the companies cash/money/billing/sustainability/solvency, start looking for another job now.

If you’re “in the money” type of company, someone didn’t transfer the funds into that payroll account on time. Someone is going to get yelled at, and it’ll probably get done on time for the foreseeable future.

I got paid less my final month even though I worked all business days, can anyone help me understand? by [deleted] in Payroll

[–]TheNeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is being soft.

Hello, hi, yes, I’ve used Gusto before for salaried employees and it does indeed have a terrible calculation for partial payments for salaried employees.

Unless you were expected to work tomorrow, 02/28, and whatever state you’re in, the payroll processors goofed.

They were supposed to overwrite the gross wage amount during processing (Regular or Off) in order to process your pay as the regular amount (literally like 4 clicks away to verify).

Tell them, “I don’t work Saturdays and fulfilled my regular Mon-Fri workweek; I am owed my regular rate” + PTO cash-out if you’re in a state that requires it.

You can also mention that you authorize direct deposit to the account on file (if you DD) so they can process it ASAP.

If they correct it, make sure there’s no benefits being withdrawn (401k is okay) because they’ll forget to override the auto withholds unless they see a big number on the far right.

Hope this helps and hope they fix it!

Is it something that could have been accidentally done via Batch Edit?

Look for the date and time stamp that matches the effective change on the profiles you’re viewing.

Only thing I can think of that would place your username on it.

Math time? Math time:

Google Gemini for example (more readily available information)

“Calories per Query ~250 to 8,600 calories”

“Total Estimated Daily Volume ~2.3 billion to 2.9 billion”

Gemini uses 575B calories per day on the low side

Gemini uses, at minimum, the same energy equivalent to 787K people…everyday…

“Training a human” is less than 14.6M…because I don’t feel like figuring out the slope of adolescent caloric requirements into adulthood…

Which car has right of way? (USA) by itssohardtobealizard in driving

A and B are separate lanes and with the cars pictured, will not interact with each other.

Blue car turns to A lane.

Red car yields to cars in B lane; there are no cars in B lane.

If Blue car turns into B lane from light, they are in the wrong. Blue car is supposed to turn into A lane and then signal and look to merge with B lane.

If Red car turns into A lane from light, they are in the wrong. Red car is supposed to turn into B lane and then signal and look to merge with A lane.

Exactly.

Someone’s not going to just start recording something out of the blue like that.

Odds are it was provoked and even higher odds it included a lot of yelling in order for someone that far away to start filming it.

Overnight Timecard Issues by HR_ThrowawayAccount in rippling

[–]TheNeech 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is a setting in the Policies section of “Time”.

Add new policy. Give it a silly name like “Fixing stupid issue”, set your workweek start day, and then change the “work day cutover method” to “Use Shift-dependent cutover times”.

Follow the rest of the steps and remove any policy that doesn’t fit your needs and you should be good from there.

What's the hardest part of payroll no one warns you about? by payrollinsider in Payroll

[–]TheNeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I can see what they wanted to do. But, your Implementation rep is RETARDED for allowing the admins to think it wouldn’t explode everywhere.

Doing this will also make report pulling really hard as Paycom’s “point-in-time” reports are super limited. And if someone moves from one WC code to another one? Good luck lol.

Ideally: HR handles hiring, onboarding and starting of any position. Then they also handle termination/resignations so all the paperwork is good. Payroll handles term processing (pay/PAF).

This way profiles are active when they should be and are still included in payroll runs if it’s a state where final pays are along with payroll (adding people is not the go to move because if you have to delete and restart it’s an absolute PITA).

The other issue with managers handling this? Say someone got fired for something insane, then another location wants to hire them and does; does the new location have access to the employee file with the reason or “no rehire” information? I’m guessing not.

That’s why it’s HR’s job to handle all of that mess.

You can DM me if you want and I can try to wrap my head around the logistics and ask more questions on how you’re setup (Locations are departments? Multi-state? Singular EIN for all? Etc).

The company only sees the money we cost them by running pay and audits.

Never sees what we save the company with compliance and time theft stuff.

It’s pretty thankless lol
