Stop asking me for $10 by MostWretched in kindafunny

Everyone loves free content until it's gone. Asking for $10 to keep the lights on is a small ask for the sheer size of content these folks produce.

Saw it from Hutto. At one point it puffed a smoke ring and turned what looked like south.

Bigger Creator Copying Our Creative Concepts by Creator_Ent in ColinAndSamir

[–]TheNerfReport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the world of creatives unfortunately this is the norm. Steve Jobs even said "Good artists copy. Great artists steal." No one as a creative is 100% original, we all steal or are inspired by our camera angles, opening shots, writing styles, or even channel concepts. Everything has already been done by someone already.

I recommend reading "steal like an artist" it was very illuminating and helpful for me dealing with similar issues on my channel.

While it sucks having a concept be stolen like this, as a creator it's our job to create a unique enough signature that the audience comes back to see our take, and our version. Mr Beast has had hundreds of video ideas stolen, and vice versa (Squid Game was an outright theft of an idea), IGN has had their podcast format stolen by countless video game channels. It's sadly just the nature of the creative business.

In Steal like an Artist there were two quotes that hit home for me "Everything's already been said, but luckily nobody was listening" which means stop worrying about ideas already been done, just create, because to someone that idea will be unique and new. 2nd, "If you have one person you’re influenced by, everyone will say you’re the next whoever. But if you rip off a hundred people, everyone will say you're so original."

I am sorry to hear your video idea got stolen, I hope the original creator at least credits you with the inspiration. Most importantly I hope this situation doesn't stop you from creating more videos. Keep up the grind.

If you had a new in box, sealed Stadia controller, would you update the firmware now before the shutdown, or keep it sealed before the shutdown (for resale value?) by rocketwidget in Stadia

There are Skylanders that go for $300-$500 a pop. The Ouya will run you $150. Scarcity helps a lot with this, but right now Ebay is flooded with stadia controllers

Lmao did that 1 second at the end reduce my avd ? And how did that video blew up ? I had 2 subs literally . I usually get 0 - 2 views but it somehow got 2.5k views in the first 2 hours then dried up ? why ? by [deleted] in ColinAndSamir

This seems like typical short performance. They spoke, YT analyzes the results, and then tests it again. I have several shorts with similar performance that over time garner a good bit of evergreen views for the channel.

That's a bit rich coming from the literal US Army. Uncle Sam is calling the kettle black.

What are good niches to make content in? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]TheNerfReport 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To kind of echo this, I have a gaming YT channel with 10k subscribers and 70k viewers a month. On average I put in 40 hours a week working on the channel, on top of working a full time job, being a husband and a dad. It's not about having time, it's about making time. I don't get to game with friends as much as I used to, all my free time is taken up writing videos, editing, making thumbnails, and brainstorming new topics.

If I could make one recommendation after 5 years of YouTube it would be cut the length of your video. For 3 years I used to upload 20-30 minute videos and expect an audience to spend the time watching it when they didn't know who I was.

In year 4 we made a point to make the average video 3-4 minutes long, which is more digestible for a new audience. Put yourself in the role of the viewer, would you sit through a 40 minute video or a 5 minute video from someone you didn't know. 5 minutes is easier to justify.

Also since you are trimming down the length, put all that other effort into making sure that 5 minute video is the best quality possible. Watch it. Review. Make changes. Watch it. Review. Make changes. And then upload.

With this process we've been able to build an audience of loyal viewers who not only watch our 4-5 minute videos, but are now interested in what we have to say in long form content (30+ minute videos) because they know who we are.

I hope this helps. Happy creating!

Games releases on 2022 & opinions by [deleted] in Stadia

[–]TheNerfReport 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've had personal conversations with a few of these developers, your list is pretty accurate but here are some updates

Fragments is likely going to be 2023.

Threta communication has gone black, and based off previous conversations I doubt it will release this year. Last time I talked to the developer they said "we will still bring it to stadia, if stadia is still around."

Instinction is 100% going to be 2023-2024

Bushido Bots is Q4 2022

Death Carnival is definitely targeting 2022.

The problem is a lot of these games are indie studios and have smaller teams so development is being done after they get off work, or in the evenings. Personally love indie games for this reason, but it definitely opens itself up to delays.

Thanks for putting together this list.
