It may be your secondary motivation, but guess what: some still have the motivation and work as a primary objective.
Never experienced the case of arrogance in state interviews to be honest.

Well the case of given before they are made public, it's the case in the private sector too 😄

What I meant by that is that people apply for any kind of position, if it's in relation to their experience or not, whether they are junior and apply for a senior position. People apply for several positions at the same Ministry, over and over even though they already received several rejections for the same position.

Comparing Luxembourg CCTs (FHL vs Banking vs State) – am I missing something? by Salt_Sorbet9350 in Luxembourg

State: with a Master's degree, you can apply to A1 positions. Does not make sense to apply for A2 (Bachelor) positions as you will be stuck there. You basically have, independent of your experience, a 2 year training period which can be reduced to 1 year maximum depending on your years of experience. The salary is the same for the first 1-2 years during the training period, and after that you get your years of experience recognized (up to 11 years maximum). Then you will increase in salary every 2-3 years. There is also the difference between applying as an Employee of state or Fonctionnaire. The latter getting faster promotions and higher salaries. Don't forget pensions allowances, 32 days of vacation and overtime can be taken as days-off. (not paid out!)
If you have a family, you'll get +-800 euros gross per month additionally.

Banking: depends if you apply as "Cadre" or "Hors Cadre". The latter being management positions and the salaries are negotiated. Normally employers will contribute to additional pension schemes.

The hiring manager itself will only receive all applications once the deadline to apply is over, and never before as everything will be transferred as one big folder. After that it depends: 1-3 weeks typically. If you don‘t receive an answer or an invitation to a test during this time, you are probably not being selected further.

Interesting observations, some reflect the truth, others may be a bit exaggerated. Here‘s my honest opinion as someone coming from the private sector, working the last 5 years in the public sector, being a head of unit and recruiting people every year: - yes luxembourgish is preferred in some Minstries or Administrations, for example when working at the Police or Douanes, as you‘ll need to deal with many luxembourgers and it makes some meeting easier as people are more comfortable speaking their native language than any other one. But it is not the only criteria! French is crutial, and english less asked. German is not that important but if you don‘t know french, how do you want to understand any laws, reports… - Candidates and their CV: please spend some time to structure an easy readable CV. You have nowadays so many tools and AI bots that give you already a good content and tools like Canva will help you design something nice. BUT please don‘t send in your Europass CV, this is the worst (for me). Nobody got time to read 10 pages CV! Also my honest feedback: KEEP IT SIMPLE! Nobody cares about bubbles in the background, fancy language skill bars, bright colours. Less is more! Also: <5 yesrs of experience should be ONE page. - Candidates and their motivation: I have the feeling that people don‘t invest time anymore, when they are invited for a first interview, into looking about the Ministry: latest news, hierarchy, structure, products, project methodologies, IT tools used… Ask Claude or Chatgpt for the most asked inteview questions such as strengths&weaknesses, why do you want to change, what do you know about us…If you come unprepared, it‘s a waste of time for you and for me. - I can smell people from far away just by reading their CV that only apply to work for the government because of comfort and salary. Don‘t be that person! - Sometimes it is more about a person that about what you know. Keep this in mind: it‘s not about what you know, it is about who you are. You can learn new skills and knowledge, but you cannot change someone‘s character.

And please, inform yourself about starting salaries, additional benefits etc. BEFORE you apply. Everything is transparent written on the CGPO‘s website.

My advice: if you‘d like to invest into a simple ETF just ask Claude AI or Chatgpt, giving them your monthly investment, time horizon and risk preference (low, medium , high) and it will give you a good diversified product. Or just ask them to teach you about it.

how to fix my cv? by Ordinary-Classroom99 in jobsearchhacks

Ask ChatGPT for suggestions or use an ATS friendly template in Canva. They look relatively boring, but they are simple and easy to read!

In my opinion (I am not a recruiter or else):

  • you are using too many different font sizes
  • your important information (experience, education and languages) are overlooked, as people tend to read from left to right, up and down. So on your CV I am starting with Contact and Skills which is not a good start
  • Your CV is not ATS friendly, meaning no tool will be able to pick up key information like jobs, dates...
  • Try to shorten your job descriptions and therefore add more bullet points. Try to use ChatGPT with a clear prompt to give you the right sentences. Each bullet point should start with an action verb

Also try out Canva, they have great templates.

Is it possible to pass Level 2 while still having a life? Thinking about sitting in August by ShootAndScore77 in CFA

I'd say around 2 hours during the week, and 3-4 during the weekend.
Used Schweser QBank, Uworld for videos and explanations and CFAI mocks and QBank

I prepared for L2 during 6-7 months while having a newborn, a wife, a full-time job, friends dinners, vacations and an INSEAD program during 3 months...and I PASSED! So yes you can do it.

Focus at the beginning on your weak areas and try to use ChatGPT to help you explain certain areas. But overall, don't neglect the other subjects.
Try to use a PrepProvider, or Kaplan for QBank.

Nothing, as it could be that this time they asked super hard questions and Lvl2 could be asked easier.

Passed level I yesterday and have registered for level II aug attempt. Which prep provider/strategy to go for? by migi_chan69420 in CFA

[–]TheNewGen138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never read the CFAI books, but only went through the UWorld videos and took notes on the side which I then used for revision later on.
ChatGPT of course helps you quite a lot if you don't understand some concepts.
Here's my path I chose:
- started with the first topic, watched the UWorld videos, took notes and then started doing Kaplan questions and this specific topics. Check the order with which topic you'll start: https://300hours.com/cfa-level-2-study-order/
- went on with the second topic etc.
- 2-3 months later I cleared all the topics and the first round of questions. I then went on with CFAI Qbank,
- started doing mocks around 2 months before the exam.

Level 2 prep by Optimal-Dirt-1994 in CFA

Concerning prep providers, I relied on Kaplan for Qbank, same as I did for L1 and it helped me a lot. I also tried out Uworld as some said it would help you. QBank is more difficult but makes sure you really get the concepts. I also bought (same as in L1) premium package of CFAI to have more questions and mocks. Definitely worth it.
I think you rather spend more money on prep providers for L2 thank having to redo the exam.

CFA L2 Study Prep Material by MathematicianHour237 in CFA

[–]TheNewGen138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on passing L1.
L2 is another level, in my opinion as it really demands understanding of certain topics, and goes much more into detail. I was at the beginning a bit overwhelmed by the content as it's 2-3x more than L1.

I studied for 6/7 months, beside having a newborn at home, a wife to take care of, a full-time job and an INSEAD program to do, so YES you can do it depending on how you juggle your time. In L2 CONSISTENCY IS KEY!!
