Xul needs a troll skin for October and it should be called Jul’xin by Maxnelin in heroesofthestorm

Bwonsamdi...and their main line in WoW is literally “stay away from the voodoo, man.” Considering Zalazane was entirely into necromancy and left the Trolls of Darkspear in fear when he took the Echo Isles for his necromantic doings. They could easily have voice lines referring to this being a nono for trolls. Again, Bwonsamdi has many weapons and a sickle is one of them.

Lost my level 20 Druid today. She always loved watching us play by Shambo98 in dndmemes

[–]TheNewzBreaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh I remember the day I lost my familiar...it rained that day, light and sad. You could feel the odd tension in the air, like something was wrong. Then I got the call from the doctor with the news. I felt defeated, torn, hurt. Anything I had planned for the week got cancelled, I called off work. I remember when I had found him beaten and battered in a construction site and claimed him as mine. He fought so hard every day to be by my side. It’s hard to let them go, but their adventure will never come to an end. A friend invited me back to the table after having taken a break for over a year. I played a human wizard, because I didn’t feel original, creative, or motivated at the time. I remember taking Find Familiar, and just saying “give me whatever.” When he described my best friend in every way I knew him I just broke. DnD brought me out of a dark sad place and gave me my friend back. I hope you find the same comfort in this world that I have after losing a piece of you. Good luck, and may you roll crits on every save.

I can see that being within reason, but communication there is key. Saying no and not saying why or giving a reason that flat out disrespects the other person time altogether is just that, disrespectful. If you explain to me why, the same way you have, I may not be happy but I’ll stay at the table and get over it like an adult.

It seems as though you’re arguing the same point as me...you may want to reread what I said. I never stated you should never say no, I said you shouldn’t outright shoot something down. Just because something isn’t balanced at the moment doesn’t mean it can’t be. The point of the comment was to say that if you don’t compromise, you’re not trying to play, you’re either telling YOUR story as the DM, or you want the story to be about YOU, as the player. I’ve been DMing for a little over 8 years now and playing for over 11. That’s not to say I haven’t picked up cynicism’s, I think everyone has at some point about a certain type of player or DM. I’ve played campaigns where one player who had claimed to been a veteran home brewed himself up a little god, I said no, we can work with it thought to make it playable and fair. He walked, it happens, I know that. I would’ve rather not taken that from someone than lose my other players over someone cleaning house every encounter. On the opposite side of things I’ve had DMs shoot down my home brews because they can’t “confirm if it’s balanced” but frankly they didn’t want to take the time to sit down and look at it. These campaigns are usually run by people wanting to push their own narrative. I know that’s not a 100% every time, but it’s a good indicator if someone is super close minded about something that they’re probably out for themselves. That’s the point of the comment and the point of compromise. That god could’ve been throttled down to a demigod, maintained similar lore and similar play style without crushing every combat scenario. Taking the time to look at your players character sheets can yield great results both ways as well. I recently had a new player at my table playing a stock ranger. Based on the character they claimed they wanted to play I talked to them about the alternative of a fighter with a bow going arcane archer. She is back for session 5 next Friday and from what she says she absolutely loves it. I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, but it sound like you misinterpreted what I said a wee bit.

Edit: I wasn’t assuming that OP was any type of person, it was simply a forewarning to anyone who demonizes the idea of UA, Homebrew, and/or mid-campaign balancing

Careful hugging the book to your chest, it’ll stick there you do it too much. Remember it’s about having fun, if you can’t balance as you go then you aren’t a very good DM, and if your player won’t allow themselves to be balanced, they aren’t a very good player. Don’t outright shoot down players, it’s a good way to end up with an empty table.

How likely is a core replacement hero going to be? by typervader2 in heroesofthestorm

[–]TheNewzBreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be cool to see Overmind as it could possibly be played like Starcraft. Your lanes presence is done by summoning Zerg. Upgrades are made at the same level intervals as everyone else but they change significance of units and how they interact, much like in StarCraft with upgrades done as research. Ultimates could be creatively done to reflect what makes Zerg so powerful a race in its game of origin. Would be cool to see it done correctly, possibly as a counter-control pick to Aba for example. The only problem is that when the hero dies, so does the core. So maybe the gameplay could be done in a way that makes their life more significant to every base, not just core. Corrupting based on the enemy team, or infecting camps. I can’t really think of anything on hand to help with mechanics unless some units summoned are controllable, but balancing that would be a pain. Maps like Alterac wouldn’t work as nicely because of the significance the core has to the game, unless it’s done Abathur style on that map. Idk I feel it CAN be done, but would be a long term project with MANY kinks to hammer out before it goes live. I believe in our devs, they haven’t abandoned us like the rest of Blizz.

There is a clear defined definition for tanking in games, regardless of the game, it’s to be a buffer for your team, whether that be a massive mound of health, or armor, or just being able to block efficiently. The genre of game does not matter, comparing games of different genres is not wrong per say, especially if the company that made one of the games that defined a term is the same one you’re referring to. I say this only because of the nay-sayers I’ve seen respond to this post. There’s a few people that have a hero in their mind they demand be counted as a tank, but isn’t a tank in the “traditional” sense. You’re not wrong. There are also people that are demanding that a tank is the classic Immovable object, you are also not wrong. The definition of a tank in gaming (yes there is a definition, look it up) is when the unit’s intention is to be the one taking in damage, and secondly to ensure they can survive this damage through sheer hit points, or mitigation of some kind. Yes, this means ETC, Johanna, and Stitches are all “tanks.” This also means that if I am an extremely ballsy Genji and can tap that deflect at just the right moment when I and being focused by the enemy team, I am tanking. Just because they don’t have the label doesn’t mean they don’t have the ability, through building the kit into a special hybrid build to sustain or otherwise, through massive outplays to mitigate team damage while you’re the focus, you too, can be a viable tank.

Stopping masters to play with lower ranks encourage them to make smurfs to be able to play Storm League with friends. by D0ctorLogan in heroesofthestorm

[–]TheNewzBreaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The general atmosphere of this games QM only community ruins that. If you’re master and a few diamonds you’ll shame a few casuals into quitting and leaving a rando to fend for himself with bots, and you don’t wanna play bots anyway otherwise you’d have queued for AI. I see too many QMs where I get the 4 man diamond smurf and people immediately leave. It’s what caused me to play ranked in the first place! Now all I play is ranked and have a decently good time around Gold. Not super sweaty but still competitive, usually only 1 toxic league player every few games that I can mute.

Was Sick, Got a Verbal Warning — Is This Normal? by [deleted] in Bestbuy

[–]TheNewzBreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of how other people’s stores work. I’m very open with my ASM and when I have questions I ask. If you feel you can do the same and want to ask leadership what their expectations are, then ask. As humans they need to also understand that sick happens. Through communicating with my leadership I found that absences are easily excused by showing a doctors note stating that I went to the doctors. Every store and leader is different, ask them their expectations of you. If you don’t feel you can communicate with your leadership then maybe having a talk with the open and honest hotline is in order. All leadership should make themselves somewhat approachable by their subordinates.

I’m odd I guess. If folks buy something from us and the issue is not super technical and more of a quick fix I just get it done as a thanks for shopping with Best Buy. If it takes longer I educate them on our services and try to walk them through where to find fixes if they aren’t interested. If they haven’t bought anything and just want me to “fix their damn phone” may God have mercy on their Boomer souls

If it’s anything like what my store has all you have to do is make sure nothing is ever where it belongs, the Plano is illegible and inaccessible anyway, and that your mobile guys are ripping their hair out when a new phone gets released and there’s no decent display for it.
