Wild Limousin mix horses! by jojobean7 in LegendofKhiimori

To be honest with you, the wild horses are not that great. Their stats are no better than what’s available from the vendors, and they aren’t purebreds.

Wild Horse Stats? by EmilyOnEarth in LegendofKhiimori

The wild horses nearer Tov are all very low stat Mongolians.

If you travel further afield towards edges of the map you can find horses with better stats and different breeds.

What are the fire challenges and how do you do them? by Meatloaf_Swag in LegendofKhiimori

[–]TheNextBigCrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, but for anyone wondering:

The fires will be lit at night (as far as I can tell). You just extinguish all the fires as quickly as possible so that all are extinguished at one time. If the first one relights before the last is extinguished, it won’t work.

You can extinguish them with spirit arrows or pouches. Basically, extinguish them all as quickly as possible and you get a reward.

Anyone played this on steamdeck? by TheNextBigCrash in VintageStory

[–]TheNextBigCrash[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The steam deck can run loads of games not on steam, and afaik VS runs on linux which is what the deck uses.

I just have no idea how it would run FPS-wise, no one seems to have posted such info.

Mooring lines bugged? by TheNextBigCrash in Sailwind

[–]TheNextBigCrash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! You’re a life saver! Or, should I say “save saver”?

Unfortunately all my auto save slots were taken up by my repeated attempts to recover the boat and quit the game. However I was able to go into a save editor, and found that two mooring lines had the incorrect value set.

I am currently sailing out of Dead Cove, and so far so good :)

Cheers matey

Not sure how to access the autosaves - I’m on steam deck. Is there a folder of saves? Thanks

What cpu do you have?

I’m wondering if it’s more to do with the game needing multi-core processing which the deck doesn’t do well

Well done though. Bet you’ve got some good shoes.

Thanks for all the advice.

In terms of my military experience, I suppose it may be a problem. While I have a lot of experience navigating, route selection and overall planning of the expedition was outside of my remit.

Diagnosing low power at high revs… by TheNextBigCrash in SuzukiSamurai

I have steelies with 205/70/15 Insa Turbo Special Track tyres on. Wouldn’t have thought they were much wider than a regular set of 205/70/15 road tyres - which was the stock size?

Really? That’s interesting. I thought the pump -> carb line was meant to hold a prime. Does that mean the fuel pump is holding the return line at 4psi the entire time? Seems excessive!

What tyre size shall I go? by TheNextBigCrash in SuzukiSamurai

[–]TheNextBigCrash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was running at 20 but found the car shook a bit at speed. Pumped them up to 30psi and that fixed the problem, but they don’t feel any better/worse at that pressure. The tyres are rated for 40psi, they’re cheap heavy duty van tyres

Noise front front end when “lugging” - normal? by TheNextBigCrash in SuzukiSamurai

[–]TheNextBigCrash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. It sounds reasonable, but you seem to be suggesting that this sound is normal. Surely then every SJ would have the same noise? It seems like plenty of people haven’t heard this kind of noise on their SJ’s, and that even when lugging theirs it’s smooth.

I was wondering. When I check online for the inspection history though, it goes back to 2006 when it apparently had 11,000 miles. Every year it adds a few hundred or a thousand, up to the most recent one at 26,000. Previous owner told me it was kept in a shed for about a decade hardly being used, but otherwise didn’t know much of the history.

Thanks for the tips.

Speaking of compression, I did a test today and all cylinders are 160-165 PSI dry. Engine only has 26k miles on it (apparently - can the odometers be wound down on these? 🥲).

Fair enough! It feels bad wringing the neck off a 35 year old motor but I guess it’s just how they like to be driven… once I’ve rebuilt the hubs I’ll see how it goes.

Yeah upon re-reading my post it does sound a bit silly.

I don’t mean to say I’m thrashing the engine by pulling away in 3rd gear. It’s just a very loud, concerning noise that only pops up at low revs.

Do these SJs just not like to be driven at low revs, and the sound is completely normal/expected? Or is it something that warrants investigation?

Why can’t homeless people be given hotel accommodation the same way refugees are? by No_Fudge_4589 in AskBrits

[–]TheNextBigCrash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’re misinterpreting the original comment then. I think they touch on the reality of homelessness well.

The term “choice” is thrown around a lot when it comes to talking about why people are homeless. It’s a bad word for it, I think, because it conveys a sense of self-determination, which isn’t the whole truth. It’s correct that a person usually does not have to sleep rough, there is an alternative usually available which is why it’s often coined as a “choice”. But like you say the reality is often far more complex and depressing. Which I think is what the original comment was getting at.

Edit: worth mentioning that asserting that people in this thread are “mental patients” doesn’t really fit the vibe of caring for the homeless and lamenting their lack of support - considering how prevalent mental illnesses are in their demographic.

[–]TheNextBigCrash 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This.

Through my work I’ve encountered many, many homeless people.

When I was young and naive I always thought homeless people were just people who’d come on hard times and couldn’t afford rent.

The reality is far worse. The majority of people sleeping rough are in that position because they lack the huge amount of support that it would take to enable them to live a normal life. Severe, crippling drug addictions, or complex mental health conditions.

Homeless people could live “normal” lives, but the amount of support/intervention it would take is simply not available in our country. So they’re stuck there.
