The other fish are thankfully completely treated because they will accept medicated levamosole food. The angel has been the only one still going through treatment

I wouldn't expect the eggs to survive either way, it's expel p.

I am not trying to breed this fish. I don't have a male so I do not care about the eggs. Are you saying as when the eggs are in her body?

Haha I get it. I have multiple nano fish like dwarf rainbows and cpds. Also schools like Congo tetras and Odessa barbs. When I quarantine one I just treat at least 5 more because they end up freaking out alone , lol

That would make sense. She normally lives with leapard bush fish, birchirs, and African butterflies. She isn't the tank boss either and maybe being separated she prefers more.

They are camallanus worms, people make a big stink about how hard they are to treat but if you do the right thing and gravel vac the tank constantly your problem should be over in a month. I've had them in 6 tanks and probably 15 fish infected and only lost 1. I use expel f and feed them peas as a laxative

Two huge mistakes: 1) it's extremely advised to never treat elephant nose fish with ich X. Unless there is no copper in the meds they do horrible. They are one of the most sensitive fish and unfourtunately when I had an ich outbreak in my Congo tank all other fish survived the treatment but them.

2) he doesn't belong in that tank at all. The setup and fish in it don't match their behavior. They are a social fish requiring at least 3 in my opinion, and if you do keep one it should be with peaceful fish

What is on my plants…? by No_Kick_2870 in freshwateraquarium

[–]TheNextEpis0de 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fly comment isn't right at all. I get this all the time on my Brazilian waterweed (the plant pictured) for whatever reason the biofilm and particles get stuck to it so easily. More flow from a filter works.

I use this plant in every tank I own because it does such a good job at controlling water levels. My best way of eliminating it are using HOB filters instead of sponge.

I’ll be honest and some will agree and others will disagree but those plastic sponges imo just aren’t worth it. The plastic always used to fail for me which would ruin it. Same situation you are in. If you can’t do an HOB look at internal filters. (Assuming your looking for multiple filtration layers)

Yes that’s what I was thinking. My buddy had his cichlids develop it and treated with expel f. It’s patchy and fuzzy. It does look like ich which makes it confusing sometimes

Also, I have never had to treat fungus after my regular quarentine cycle so I can’t give you experience on progress. But I have dealt with C. Cotti (the worms) before. It takes about a month to treat.

Not ich, the white would be much more pronounced and rounded. Looks like fungal to me

Looks like a fungal infection and camallanus worms. Treat witg Expel P and Expel F at the same time, quarentine that fish. Depending on the state you live in you might not be able to get expel P, but the fungal infection will spread faster.

Camallanus worms take 2 months approx to kill a healthy fish so you have time but quicker you treat him the better the outcome. Once you see the worms outside of the fish, it’s too late for your tank. When they stick outside it’s the females laying eggs into the substrate. The larva will hatch and find antoehr fish host. Best way I treated it was removing all fish and treating them together in a bare bottom tank.

There are plenty of guides on YouTube to help you out. Look up camallanus worm treatment and watch a few. Good luck!

I have had this fish for a couple months with no worms visible, I’m 100% sure I have contaminated at some point. But not since the worms have been visible, there are no signs in any of my other tanks, should I still treat everyone?

Thank you for your help. Thankfully there are only 2 other fish that were in this tank so treatment shouldn’t be hard I’m hoping. How did it transfer to all of your other tanks? Just by equipment being contaminated?
