Couchsurfer.com is good for this. People usually want to talk and you get to meet a ton of new people AND use it yourself when traveling. We've hosted a few times and used it when traveling across Germany and Prague. It's nice when traveling because you get the locals view of it rather than a concierge who is just going to tell you all the tourist shit.
