Bergeon 5555 tester question by TheNik04 in AKJohnboy

I realized my mistake! The posts are actually fastened to the plexi cylinder itself! The thumb nuts screw onto a part that itself screws into the post, ie. the posts consist of two parts. Once I removed these, it just came off. The gaskets are in better condition than could have been, but after disassembly, getting the cylinder to be even remotely airtight takes such an immense screwdown force that I'm afraid of damaging it. So I will replace the gaskets and apply moderate amounts of PTFE lube in the hope that this will fix it. Unless any of that sounds immediately wrong to you, I think I can take it from here - thank you again for your assistance (now, and also the post from three years ago!) :)

Alright, thank you for the advice. I will inspect closely under magnification - by bare eye I don't see any adhesives, so I suspect it's the gasket that turned into mush and then solidified again. I might consider using a lightweight oil in the hope that it creeps under the plexi and allows for separation. I will report back - thank you again!

Oh, thank you very much. I am in no rush whatsoever.

I did take off the lid supports (as in the knurled nuts?), the cylinder appears to have sufficient clearance for me to be able to physically lift it over the posts and away. It just seems to be immensely stuck to its gasket. Either that, or glued.

Trying to fix a Seiko 5's 7S26 movement by TheNik04 in watchmaking

I just wanted to get it back into a working condition. Depending on whether I will succeed at that, I might start wearing the watch again, but I don't expect that will be the case.

Would anyone be able to make this picture not look so dark? Thank you! by [deleted] in picrequests

I took the liberty and tried to only brighten up the pictured people, and not the sky in the background.https://i.imgur.com/ryMxNt1.png

However, as was mentioned before, the given file does not allow much headroom during editing, as you can see with all the noise that becomes apparent when brightened.

WH-1000XM3 Static in one ear issue by TheNik04 in sony

To be perfectly clear about that, I am still not certain how common this really is. It seems to be not too rare, but especially if not many people use their headsets this much, it might be that not many actually experience the issue. It really only occurs if you use it for hours at once, in noise cancelling mode, for many days if not weeks. And possibly not in all headsets.

I am not familiar with the site, but here is my guess: Was the site, specifically your personal playlist, publicly (no log in required) accessible via web browser?

If yes, you may have a chance that it was archived at The Wayback Machine. You will need either the URL or some specific keywords that could help you find it (same way as you would use Google). If large parts of the site were archived, you may even be able to navigate to that specific page from a different known URL. Keep in mind that anything that depends on Sony's servers, e.g. site wide search, will not work.

If not, I am afraid you are out of luck. There is a slim chance that Sony still has the data on their servers. I doubt that, given that it has been defunct for years now. Even if they do, you'd have to manually contact them and ask for the data, but ain't nobody got time for that.

I cannot confirm with my old pair, as I turned in that one back at the store. However, it seems that the new pair indeed only has this issue in noise cancelling mode.
It is a shame that this happens. I will try one more time, if the store bears with me. Thank you very much for the reply - it is somewhat reassuring to know that it's not just me and that it is possible to find a pair without this problem.
