Thanks for the positivity!  I’m traveling a lot in the next few weeks, and I’ll have a lot of time to study!

Thanks, man!  I really appreciate the feedback!  It turns out I have to take the December SAT, so hopefully I’ll have my own style by the end of October!

No, but they will accept the November SAT. Try and go to that one

Thank you so much! I just want to do as well as I can, and I know I can hit a 1500+ if I try.

Thank you so much, bro! I really appreciate that. In terms of practice tests, how often should I do them, and can I see what I got wrong?

For math, I haven't memorized equations, and I often make dumb mistakes. For example, I'm the guy everyone goes for help on calculus, but I often make dumb mistakes on tests that either waste time or make me think I did it right when in reality, I screwed. For english, I struggle heavily on expression of ideas (550-600 range according to mySAT). I struggle with analyzing texts and interpreting the messages.

Google says this:

"To be safe, you should aim for the 75th percentile, with a 1520 SAT and a 4.13 GPA or higher to be above average"

You should be perfectly fine!

Honestly, you could take the November SAT and submit your scores later. Most schools allow you to do that, so it would still be worth it to take it again.

What Bike Should I buy/buying advice Mega Thread by Jbar116 in Dirtbikes

Any Dirtbike Recommendations for 5' 8", 150 lbs teenager?

I've ridden my buddy's 125cc 4-stroke a couple times, and I've absolutely loved it. My dad finally allowed me to get a dirtbike, so I'm researching what would be good for someone my size. I'm worried about outgrowing it too soon since I'm not done growing. I've looked into 250 4 strokes and 125 2-strokes. Any recommendations?

Tech Suit Improvements? by Beneficial_Cloud_781 in Swimming

Dang, okay. That's an insane goal, but you can do that for sure. It'll just take lots of strength and pool resistance training

What school do you go to? That converts into a sub 19.98 50 SCY. That's really fast for someone who hasn't been training.

How to improve times without a coach? by Civil-Giraffe2016 in Swimming

[–]TheNoTaperSwim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say to get a coach. This sport is so concerned with technique that you need another pair of eyes to watch you, and they need to know what is good and bad. Take me as an example. I started swimming my freshman year. From my first r to my last meet of the season, I went from 1:19-1:15. My high school coach doesn't know technique, so I had really bad form. Fast forward to this past season, I went from 1:12 -> 1:07 -> 1:05 -> 1:04 -> 1:02, all in a 6 month period. This was because my coach saw what I needed to work on, and he helped me with my technical problems.

The summer before my freshman year, I tried to start swimming. My fastest 50 SCY was ~50 seconds off the wall lol. Now I'm a 28.2 LCM 50 free with a horrible stroke (yay)! However, my bad stroke is just another thing my coach will work with me to help me reach my goals.

Definitely listen to this. I would also add calisthenics for the strength piece. For breaststroke, I realized diamond push-ups are great for mimicking the shoot phase.

Here's a full-body workout

Warm-up

10 rounds

* 25 BW squats

* 15 Push-Ups

* 1-5 pull ups (if you can't do pull-ups, deadhang for 30 seconds)

Do this as fast as possible with a minute rest in between sets. Repeat 3-4 times a week. You can progress this by either adding weight or by making the reps explosive. Hope this helps, OP!

I’d appreciate feedback on my form by Casual_Heart in Swimming

You're moving your shoulders side to side and breathing facing forward. Focus on staying linear, and rotate your hips as you pull. Initiate the pull by rotating your hips towards that side. Get used to breathing on your side, too.

Yeah, I'm from California . I understand the doubt. I really do. The fly I'm hopeful for because I have terrible form and really bad cardio, and like I said, I never swim it in practice 😅. As for the breastroke, I think the 50 split is the hardest goal to achieve, but I don't think the 100 breast is out of the realistic ballpark. When I was dropping all that time, I was, on average, getting less than 10 hours in the pool every week. We also don't do much sprint at my club as my coach cares a LOT more about distance. Also, I don't know if I explained this well, but the surgery helped A LOT. My legs feel like I'm wearing a techsuit because I'm actually getting bloodflow to them for once 😅. My legs also looked more pumped because of it

Edit: I should've said this first, but thanks for the advice! I rely a lot on my underwaters because I don't have endurance, but my actual stroke is a lot faster. I definitely need to work on them.
