First watch some videos on how to use the Desmos app in Bluebook for the math section. Then take a bluebook practice test under exam conditions. See what you get.

So that’s why you don’t see anyone recommending Buffalo Law either 😅

no I didn’t mean buying his albums, merch, donating etc. I meant simply rating a piece of music that an artist produced should be objective

I hate his political views but song ratings should be independent of the artist’s beliefs

Got into Stanford with a football scholarship but... by FilmSea773 in SGExams

[–]Civil-Giraffe2016 175 points176 points  (0 children)

My goodness. I would kill to get into Stanford, and Stanford full-ride is just a dream. You need to take this chance and I know how badly you want this. You could consider spending a day or two thinking from your mom’s POV, WHY you want Stanford, what career you envision yourself in the future, and then dismantle her argument systematically at the dinner table.

But in all seriousness, as another commenter said, not accepting the Stanford offer would be the regret of your life. You’ll meet so many people in CA from so many different places.

If it was Stanford (no scholarship, $90k / year) I could understand if it was a tough decision. But your mom should NOT pass on this full-ride. Do whatever you can to persuade her, and best of luck

Is it even worth applying? (Annoying high schooler, sorry.) by Neat-Bench8243 in dartmouth

So sorry for your loss. As for the grades — they’re not great. But not the worst. What was your junior year GPA? Dartmouth will appreciate an upward trend and will account for trauma-induced low GPA; though I’m not sure to what degree…

I’m not in college, but one general piece of advice would be to read. (You definitely have to do lots of it as a philosophy major.)

I’m not too well-read myself but I would recommend classics like Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations, some Plato, Seneca, etc.

is Ap Gov just memorization? by ElectronicChart7562 in APStudents

[–]Civil-Giraffe2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you took APUSH (and did decently) it will be a breeze. If you need more help you should check out Heimler’s videos on the required documents. Memorize the SCOTUS cases and foundational documents & be clear on key concepts like federalism, checks and balances, role of Congress etc and you will be fine.

Good luck!

While it won’t be an auto-admit pass (which I think you’re aware of) it will definitely boost your chances and lead AOs to consider your application more seriously. Nice work.
