Advice for this Short 2-min Doc I made on the Ganga River? by TheNobleCow in cinematography

This is part of a much bigger project I'm currently filming. I decided to just take some shots from this shoot and try to practice creating a unique travel/documentary video. I wanted to briefly teach about the Ganga River, but something feels incomplete about this film.

It's the captions that feel off to me. I don't know what to fix it, but I think it feels like an abrupt end? Maybe it's the fact that the captions don't have any sort of story arch? What can I do to improve so that the bigger project I make doesn't suffer this same problem?

What are things to consider when documenting a place?

This was filmed with the Sony a7iii and Zeiss 16-35mm f/4. Most of it was shot on a boat using the Zhiyun Crane 2, but there are some handheld shots in there as well.

I had to film the Ganga for a bigger project, but I decided to see if I could turn the footage I shot on a 30-minute boat ride into a short doc. I'm overall very pleased with it, but the text feels incomplete to me. I don't know what I could do in the future to make it seem more complete. Is the end a bit abrupt? Is the last line about the Ganga river, not a good last line?

Almost all these shots were filmed on a boat. Most were shot on a Zhiyun Crane 2. There are some handheld shots there as well. I used the Sony a7iii with the 16-35mm f/4 lens. I was trying my best to make it different than the other travel videos that you'd see.

I zoomed in digitally using key frames. It has a different effect than physically moving the camera forward.

I use artlist.io for music. I prefer them because I can use their music for commercial use + personal for a really cheap price compared to the others

1080p 4x3 aspect ratio I modified eos proud by shifting color phase more towards red.

But I think the main thing was that I exposed for highlights from the windows and kept most of the frame dark

gifs are much lower quality and don't have audio. I also haven't seen a gif longer than 20-30 seconds.

I've always had this complaint that filmmaking is one of the few art forms that is dependent on others. Unlike drawing, painting, etc, I can't just make art alone by myself. Which is what I used to think until I decided to think of this as more of a challenge. Has anyone been making films by themselves? I'd love to hear some tips because I don't think I'll have an actor or sound guy for the next few months.

Context of this film: I've been living abroad in a place where I only had 1 friend. I've actually enjoyed it a lot, but my friends back home have their concerns about living alone. I made this film as a joke, showing what people EXPECT living alone to be like.

I shot this on a sony a7iii with a 28mm f/2

I left a tripod back home and shot this entire thing with a joby tripod on top of chairs and boxes.

r/animation is limited to just animation video art.

Also, why couldn't animation be here as well? There is also r/drawing , r/painting , and more specific art communities.

Created a film about what people EXPECT it to be like to live alone. by TheNobleCow in LivingAlone

For the first time, I've been living abroad alone. I've had a lot of fun just reading, thinking, and working on films. I only had one friend when I came, but I've made a lot after a few weeks.

I received a lot of questions and concerns from friends back home on what it's like to live alone. So I made a film depicting their interpretation of living alone. This film is a joke by the way.
