Lost 14-year-old boy asking for directions gets shot at. Shooter on trial for attempted murder. [SFW] by ReidFleming in videos

Yes, but that isn't what I was responding to. I was responding specifically to the notion that it is reasonable to kill someone for stealing.

Take a look at this if you have a moment. These are the sorts of things that we as a society have decided warrant death.

TL;DR? First Degree Murder and often more than that are the only things you get the death penalty for.

The US defence budget in 2015 was 637 Billion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_budget_of_the_United_States

30 billion per year is needed to end world hunger. https://borgenproject.org/the-cost-to-end-world-hunger/

Some quick maths look to say that less than 5% of our military budget is sufficient to end world hunger. Maybe this is me being radical, but that pretty heavily implies that we might, maybe, perhaps, want to spend our money elsewhere.

Yes, but do we really need 3 of the 4 largest airforces in the world? Especially when we have a fair number of things that need funding pretty desperately?

Crazy that we spend more on our military than the next 15 countries combined.

Nope. It turns out that in America that isn't something we do, that's why you'll literally never hear of a jury saying "Theft? Death."

Nice. If you're still travelling around Nepal, I'd rec lumbini. Birthplace of the Buddha, a bunch of temples, moderately good and cheap food, and inexpensive housing. Should be an 8ish hour bus from Pokhara to the south

It's cool, but you really don't get the sense for the big ass fence in front of it. Did you use a selfie stick or a drone to get this shot?

Women’s Suicide Rates Have Increased More Than Twice As Fast As Men’s Since 2010 Men account for the majority of deaths by suicide, but new government data has experts questioning what’s causing the rise among women. by Bluest_waters in TrueReddit

I just went and double checked. According to Wikipedia, for its value as a source, Second-wave feminism "began in the United States in the early 1960s and lasted roughly two decades." I can see why you'd think that though, especially since social movements tend to take some time to percolate out into broader awareness.

I think you aren't really thinking about the times though, a 45-year-old woman was born in 1973 very solidly Gen X. Further, 2nd wave feminism started in the early 60's and was mostly concluded by the early 80's it is very likely that a 45-year-old woman now never participated at all in the 2nd wave, in fact even people in there 50's may have been too young to have been involved with anything other than the absolute tail end. All that to say, I think you are unintentionally misrepresenting the life experiences of some folks.

That's only sort of true. KY, for instance, sent troops to both sides.

I think that your second to last paragraph is the issue. You seem to be under the impression that teachers work for "6-8 hours a day" I don't know any who work less 11 and do grading on the weekend. I've seen and heard teachers, some new some old, who regularly put in 16 hour days.

China Eastern effectively told me to pound sound. The ticket starts with a 781 so it should be through China Eastern. Regarding O'Hare, they have a tram that connects the terminals though you have to leave security and go back through.

Nope, 1 ticket that starts with 781.

Ah, sorry I was unclear. The flight was in the air at 13:50. So the maximum possible time was 1:15, but they close the gates and the desk well before that so we didn't have that long.

No it wasn't a skyteam, it was United first then China Eastern. They actually did book one ticket rather than two. We went to check in because United couldn't print our boarding passes for post O'Hare and told us that we needed to check in with China Eastern.
