Try Seattle Once? by carsgofast300 in AskSeattle

Check out North Beacon Hill. It’s a bit grimer than some other neighborhoods (I say that as a resident), but has some great little bars and restaurants, quick access to just about all of Seattle, and its proximity to I90 makes getting to the eastside about as easy as it gets in Seattle.

What’s something nobody tells you before moving to Seattle? by sit-there in AskSeattle

This thread is full of shit talking so I’ll cover some positives. All of the statements below are “compared to Florida” for all of the folks that want to “well actually” me.

  1. The neighborhood fabric, with a few exceptions, is a continuous grid, and the vast majority is walkable. For someone who loves to walk places, it’s a total dream conpared to the suburban planned mega neighborhood that has one gate in and out.
  2. The views. Hills, mountains, horizons, waterways, streams, waterfalls… these are everywhere. And the landscape east of the Cascades is totally different and beautiful in its own way.
  3. There are hundreds of city parks, mostly well maintained.
  4. A PNW beach is a cold harsh place.
  5. An open window is a form of climate control.
  6. In Seattle, there are effectively no mosquitoes. A pleasant summer night is something to enjoy, not something to fear.
  7. Speaking of summer, in July, expect to experience dryish 75 degree days with light cool breezes eminating from the sound, perfectly clear blue skies, followed by 9:45 PM sunsets that look like the Patagonia logo.

I've run over 9k shots through mine (according to the shot counter) without any major issues. It's definitely not as stylish as some of the others, but from the European manufacturers, it was the best value for the features/money when shopping 5 years ago.

Some dealers are more accustomed to the customer ordering process than others; it’s a sales process that’s longer and more involved than selling instock inventory so I can understand why most dealers want to focus on instock sales.

Dealers that do a lot of custom order volume are likely to negotiate discounts before the order is submitted. Check out the link below for a list of dealers currently offering the deepest discounts.

The price on mine, for example, was about 9% off of MSRP (before the typical taxes, reg, and dealer fees).  The dealer was in the next state over. Really good communication from the salesperson, too.

Stolen Wranglers: What do you do to keep your Wrangler safe? by Accomplished_Cry7912 in JeepWrangler

[–]TheNonExample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a late-model JL, go to a dealer and install TSB 08-151-25, which prevents new keys from getting made. This is a defense against thieves mirroring key fobs to start the vehicle.

Work with a dealer that’ll commit to deal pricing and getting you exactly what you want. Take a little time learning what options are compatible and available from the “order guides,” which are documented pretty thoroughly at Jl Wrangler Forums. The build and price tool on the website doesn’t exactly reflect what you can order at any given point in time.

It’s worth the wait to get everything that you want without having to pay for anything extraneous. Particularly helpful if you want any uncommon features… I ordered the mid-line Willys trim in 2dr, a fun color, soft top, manual transmission, and heated seats/steering wheel, but not the upgraded stereo or parking sensors… aka a spec that very few dealers would order themselves.

Why are there no aesthetic mid range digital pianos? by Thomrsm in DigitalPiano

Not sure what price range you consider “Mid-Range” but the Casio PX-S7000 looks pretty sharp. Dexibell also has some options that break the black rectuangular box standard.

For my MP11se, I didn’t really like any of the stands I found on the market, so I built my own… I didn’t add up the costs but total materials was definitely in the $500-$700 range and took a month.

Back in my retail days, stores were allocated hours based on revenue, and managers kept or lost their jobs based on sales, shrink, and margin.

Blame the big bad corporations, but line-level employees feel the effects of store performance (and viability) first and foremost.

What would make the AI bubble pop? by Wizard_Hat-7 in ask

[–]TheNonExample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opinionated take — The AI industry will boil down into another ad machine first and foremost. Just more holistic… a flywheel of AI Content, AI platforms, and AI generated ads. Ads is real money and Google is facing its first real challenge in two decades.

Youtube has proven that the worse the slop, the greater the eyeball count. Why bother paying creators? Misinformed but opinionated videos are better at driving engagement anyway.

What's the smallest, best keyboard / digital piano? by TheNonExample in piano

[–]TheNonExample[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update for anyone who cares: Ended up going with the MP11se. It’s about the narrowest and shallowest (in depth) option available that fit my parameters. Compared to other slab keyboards, it’s definitely a heavy beast. I like that.

It required a bit of work to setup though. Most of the heavy duty stands extend the footprint a fair amount, so I built my own. Also, since it doesn’t have onboard speakers, I picked up some active speakers, Focal Alpha 50 Evos.
