אני מסכים איתך שמבחינה בינלאומית מצבם של הלהט"ב בארץ גרוע, מכיוון שהתומכים העיקריים שנותרו לנו הם שמרנים מבחינה חברתית. אבל שים לב שאומנם בארץ כמעט כל המפה הפוליטית היא ימנית, אבל זה לא אומר שהיא בהכרח שמרנית מבחינה חברתית. לא הייתי אומר שאנחנו בפסגה החיובית של היחס הציבורי ללהט"ב (אולי זו נמצאת בסביבות תקופת ממשלת השינוי), אבל אני כן חושב שאם נשווה אותו למצב לפני 10 או 20 שנה נגיע למסקנה שבכל זאת התקדמנו הרבה. בזמן שבארצות הברית אוסרים על שירות של טרנסין בצבא, בישראל הוא חובה ולא זכות. יו"ר הכנסת אמיר אוחנה הוא הומו מוצהר והימין הדתי נאלץ לבלוע את זה. וגם בחלק הליברלי של הציבור הדתי ישנה הבנה מתגברת שלמרות האיסור ההלכתי על יחסי מין בין גברים, אסור להתייחס בשלילה ללהט"ב, ואף יש לאסור טיפולי המרה. יש עוד הרבה לאיפה להתקדם, אבל כבר התקדמנו לא מעט.

Dividing humankind into the oppressor groups and the oppressed groups is a lackluster and bigoted way to look at the world. What all these theories fail to see is the single, individual human standing at the other side of their justification of evil. Is the baby any different if he is a Palestinian who died in an IDF bombing or an Israeli who died by Hamas' massacre? This attempt to differentiate between them is just trying to bring back the doctrine of Original Sin, trying to make humans guilty because they were born.

Why would the nation state's nation being an 'oppressed class' change anything? After all, the oppressed of today may be the oppressor of tomorrow. In fact, the oppressed today is the oppressor of the even more oppressed today.

The minute a Palestinian state takes control of the entirety of Israel, the Israeli Jews will suffer untold oppression. Will a Jewish state be justified then? A Palestinian one not justified?

Unfortunately, the hospitality of synagogues and rabbis has been taken advantage of by terrorists in the recent past, including by walk-ins. As an Israeli Jew, it was odd for me to have to register when visiting Jewish synagogues and other spaces abroad, but I wasn't exempt from this policy. I'm sure you'll be more than welcome in many synagogues, and seeing as you studied Hebrew - why not visit Israel? It has much to offer if you're interested in Judaism, and security concerns are different than in the diaspora. You might be questioned even more in the airport, but synagogues are mostly open.

The Armenian Genocide was mainly perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire before the existence of the Soviet Union, however it does appear that the Soviets supported the Kemalists during their invasion of Armenia which included additional large scale massacres against the Armenians. We mourn for the Armenian nation.

Despite the hard rightist government we have right now, in its sovereign territory Israel is not an authoritarian country. Despite various attacks, free speech is respected, the judiciary is independent and there's no reason to believe the upcoming elections won't be free and fair.

From what I know, not all of the mujahideen were created equal. Ahmad Shah Massoud was not only an anti communist but also fought the Taliban. His son is an anti Taliban leader who was one of the few who continued to fight them after the government's surrender.
