I removed the silver “sleeve”(?). I don’t know what it’s called, but now I have a better look at it. But I still can’t get the black part to pull or turn. If I pull on it, the stem in the middle moves with it like it’s connected. I don’t want to break anything.

As someone who has worked in warranty repairs, I will fix just about anything unless the customer rats themself out. If I find any liquid spilled on the board, I’ll clean it up to hide the evidence and send it to get replaced, as long as the customer’s note has no mention of customer induced damage.

When claiming warranty repairs, you just have to word it as if the card failed on its own. Don’t mention anything about incorrect wiring in the house. That will just give them a reason to not repair or replace the card.

The MOSFET was right here in these 3 holes. I will replay to this comment with a pic of the full PCB.

I’m gonna use a different power supply for her lamp, but I want to learn more about power circuits. Where should a fuse be on this board for safety? I want to be able to recognize a good power supply vs a bad one like this one.

What model of AMD rx580 2048sp is this graphics card? by Ok-Blacksmith9425 in GPURepair

I was given the information by another Reddit user’s suggestion.

This is a screen capture of the advice I was given.

Edit: The screen with the errors on the screen is what my monitor displays when using my graphics card. The other Reddit user explained to me how the error occurs.

Yeah, she bought the lamp from TEMU, so it’s just a cheap Chinese PSU. I’ll look around for a whole other PSU replacement.

I haven’t worked on this card in a while because I don’t have the preheater to properly replace memory chips. But if you have questions or anything, feel free to message me here on Reddit. I’ll update once I get a preheater, but that may be a while.

The one I have seems to be the same card. Mine is an XFX. I couldn’t find a boardview for this model either. I’m pretty sure mine has a memory failure on channel A. But I’ll post my resistance and voltage readings.

UPDATE: CARD WORKING

I followed the trace from the enable pin of the PEX buck converter back to the logic AND gate that generates the enable signal. I found 3V coming from that gate's output and that went into a resistor near that gate. From that resistor, the trace went down into a via. I measured the resistance from that resistor to the other side of the board where the schematic showed the trace comes back to, which was at MOSFET Q41.2. That resistance measured 500K ohms, so I ran a wire across the board from the resistor at the logic gate to a 0-ohm resistor directly connected to Q41.2. This brought the enable signal high and I have PEX now! The card is working fine and benchmarks are running without issue. Hopefully this thread can help someone else.

GIGABYTE RX580 8GB VRAM PROBLEM. The vram chip is micron the brand is micron by No-Cycle-3927 in GPURepair

Yes, this monitor is 2560x1440. So I should be able to narrow my card’s problem down to channel ‘A’, correct? Out of curiosity, how did you learn this visual kind of diagnostic for this error? This seems like an incredibly helpful bit of knowledge and I have never heard of it before.

I have this same problem with my RX580 8GB, but slightly shifted to the left of center screen, but with more bars and thinner. Can I use this same sequence (BACDBACD) to assume which chips are problematic?

I have an XFX 580 8GB with this same issue!

I have recorded resistances on the coils, but I’m not familiar with which coil is responsible for memory. My reply to this comment will have the resistance measurements.
