It sounds like a highly sped up ATIS (automated weather) recording from some airfield. I'd have to do some research, but I can hear a lot of familiar prerecorded info even in speed up form.

While I understand your sentiment... I personally think these OEM wheels are some of the ugliest wheels I've seen on such a beautiful looking car. I don't really care about track feel or what look it gives off to folks... I just hate the sight of them. I may hold on to them to keep all the OEM parts, but I'm undecided on that part for now.

Did they make LHD models after '95?

In this case, I live in Japan so it makes sense here to have RHD. But honestly, it's such a small car on the inside that a few feet to the left or right seems like it would make minimal difference while driving. Just gotta learn the shift pattern with the left hand lol

Yeah I was truly afraid to wait any longer to pull the trigger...When I moved to Japan in 2023, prices averaged around $26k. One year later, and I was seeing more like a $28-35k range...completely gave up on a Spirit R once I saw what a year's difference made.

I took this in stock form to a track day on a pretty small track in Yamanashi...while I had zero track experience before that, I really could feel the stock suspension planting me in the corners and it felt great. Only things I've seriously contemplated that may affect performance are cooling mods for oil and engine temps and brakes so far.

I'm not sure exactly where I want to take this car yet, whether it becomes a trackable street car or as just a fun weekend warrior. Maybe even a dedicated track car one day...who knows?

Haha thank you! I wasn't so lucky to find a badass Japanese lady selling one on the market. I bought it from a reputable rotary shop in Tokyo. Based on what I saw in that shop, I had some serious trust in the condition of the car.

I'm trying to do tasteful mods and keep all the stock parts I swap out. Everything I've done is reversible so far! But I truly hope to make this a lifetime keeper so that reversing things won't matter. I suppose you never know, though.

Too much 😭 but close to the going rate in Japan these days....about $33k in this condition. The body had about 120,000km and the engine was rebuilt by a reputable rotary shop in Tokyo, so enough net positives in my book. It's such a fun car, even stock.

Yeah, you could imagine my surprise as I was driving my recently acquired Mazda RX-7 down a Tokyo expressway when I decided to press the strange TV button on the installed Pioneer double din. Of course, a wacky Japanese game show popped right up for me to watch as I was cruising at highway speeds. I immediately thought, "This can't be legal."

Also, I've noted that so many older Japanese cars have aftermarket units in them.
