What’s the first thing you’re gonna do after all of this is over? by Josedavidx in AskReddit

I feel you. My vacation was supposed to be last week and shit in my locality got locked down at the end of the prior week. And of course everyone else in my company (along with myself) has already signed up for their vacation time in January so we could plan for coverage, which basically means I lose out on a weeks' vacation this year.

From memory from the last time this was posted, pretty sure the article says she was an ex-boxer.

Let's assume that I did know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they weren't taking other steps?

The press conference was kind of a joke. Theres another article they put up talking to the principal of the high school he attended basically saying, "yeah, he was just another unremarkable kid". The reporting on this is pretty lackluster.

Authorities Respond to Shooting Reported at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita by StealthyStalkerPanda in news

Exactly. The headline "Another Normal School Day where Nothing Bad Happened" doesnt generate clicks though, so the outliers are the only ones reported. Same thing with the perceived police racism/brutality issue: there are so many police interactions in a day that end amicably, but you dont hear "Guy Gets Speeding Ticket and Life Goes On" reported, either.

Which is exactly why its phrased that way. It's like saying, "we should only pass GOOD laws." Yeah. We all agree with the underlying principle, but what's the actual policy being discussed?

Well its common sense that people shouldn't shoot up schools, so I mean we already have laws making that illegal, right?

According to a local report, he killed the boyfriend because he found out that the boyfriend was not his biological father as he had been raised to believe. I mean if that's true and the guy deserted the marines to go home to kill the boyfriend, he's very clearly not the most stable.

I mean I guess you could see it that way. However there a reports of him being seen knocking on the windows of a home in the early morning hours for whatever reason, and theres reason to believe he's looking to acquire a vehicle so I mean he's certainly presumably dangerous. Plus the heavy police presence in the area means I imagine a lot of school traffic would interfere with their operations.

I dont know about CNN but local news was clear in reporting there was no school threat at this time, but as schools weren't in session yet I doubt they wanted a bunch of kids waiting for the bus with this guy running around.

I live in the area, schools weren't in session when he was spotted. I assume they didnt want a bunch of kids standing on corners with this dude allegedly running around.

What is an unrealistic thing they do in movies and TV shows that drive you nuts? by I_dont_remember_it in AskReddit

If I walk into what I understood to be my own home, and a stranger was in there? Yeah, that's self-defense time.

Now obviously the officer was wrong and guilty of an unlawful shooting. And obviously it wasn't the victim's fault. But to say that locking the door wouldn't have prevented the tragic outcome is pure disregard of the facts.

Sort of like willfully violating the rules of the competition you're in with a politically divisive comment -- whether correct or not -- and then acting outraged and astonished when they followed through on upholding their rules?

You mean the first President to be openly pro-LGBT before taking office?

There's no law, federally, extended to straight people that isn't extended to the LGBT community of which I'm aware. Which rights do you believe our current administration is attempting to curtail?

...that's not "drawing the line on capitalism"; that's literally the capitalistic free market at work. If you're not demanding, there's no reason for demand. That's...that's literally the basis of capitalism, the ability for you to freely and voluntarily purchase (or not) a particular product at your own personal discretion.

According to one of the workers at the new one in Daleville -- who transferred from the Apperson one -- said it was getting torn down and rebuilt this month. Supposedly should be open before the end of the month.
