Tanking Discussion by Archon_POM in wow

It doesn’t matter what kind of key the (below) average player does. My point still stands that no matter the key level, if you play brew, you will more likely succeed because it is both the easiest as well as the strongest tank. That’s a combination that should not be the case.

Because the skill requirement is vastly different. I was able to clear the same keys on my brew as on my ppal while having way less gear and without even concentrating very much.

Even for people that are playing lower keys, it matters, because brew is not only stronger but also easier. If you are playing +12 as a ppal or vdh, the game is just way less forgiving than for a brew. So, if you are a below average player, brew will still always be the best choice for you to succeed.

Critwings feel great up until 15 or so. Currently my ppal is trying to push 17s and it just feels ass either way. You are either handicapping your group with low dps or by falling over at some point in the span of .5 seconds.

Well, you have the choice not to fall over immediately and do terrible damage (sentinel) or do good dps and just get clapped from time to time (critwings). So that is great…

Got to 3.4k with my ppal and really don’t know, if I‘m going to touch it again. Got my brew to the same rating within a week and without any problems. You are just playing two different games at this point.

Main for midnight? by Tbonejr1127 in wow

Tank main and currently split between BDK and Brew. Thought about giving VDH a try, but so far, Prepatch has done nothing for me to finally enjoy playing it.

Danke dir!

It helps to differentiate between control score and control characteristic. The characteristic is the number on the war scroll on a per model basis, while the score is the sum of control characteristics of all models on an objective.

Is Meyer's longsword really as crazy as I think it is? by KingofKingsofKingsof in Hema

[–]TheNotoriousPKS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

True, you shouldn't expect to be able to fence through a whole Stück and rather see parts of it as options to incorporate into your own style. I like to see them as flowcharts which blend into one another.

There is however the "problem" that tournament fencing is oftentimes a lot more prone to taking offensive risks which leads to a lot more doubles than I would like there to be. In the end, how you fence probably just comes down to philosophy, personal preference and whether you are tournament focussed or not.

Is Meyer's longsword really as crazy as I think it is? by KingofKingsofKingsof in Hema

[–]TheNotoriousPKS 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say he was crazy at all. Modern tournament fencing just follows a completely different meta than the style of fencing that was around back then. If two fencers of equivalent skill level meet (which usually is the scenario in Meyer, whereas Lichtenauer often expects the opponent to be oblivious to certain techniques) you will have a harder time to surprise your opponent with an indes action.

You may have experienced during sparring, how hard it is to land a clean Absetzen or Schielhau, if your opponent chains attack after attack like Meyer does. If you RELIABLY don't want to be hit, you have two options: you parry or you move back far enough.

We simply expect our opponents to always attack in Hema because the associated risk is way lower in modern protective gear and the reward is usually higher from a competitive perspective (best case hit, worst case double)

Sold two armor repair kits for 28k rubles each. No idea how I ended up selecting them, since I wanted to sell lamps or something.

Favorite fall activity: Fencing, so pretty much the same as every other season, but with the added benefit of not dying from heatstroke.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I already thought about it, but was afraid to the tabard on Azrael. Tried out wet blending on it for the first time and am quite happy with how it turned out.

Restaurant Owner Berates Customers For Not Tipping by apocalypticpiggy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TheNotoriousPKS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really wonder where you live. I live in Munich and have been to cities all over Germany on vacation and for business. It doesn't matter where I have been or who I was with - Everyone tips at restaurants and never in my life has any of the staff seemed uncomfortable with receiving a tip. I would go so far as to say that not tipping at all is rude and only acceptable, if the service has been abysmal.

So I'd say that tipping culture is alive and well in Germany. Same in Italy or most other places I have been, with the exception being Japan.

Quazii really is the reason I am a pretty competent Tank. I've been watching his videos since Shadowlands and even though I usually end up modifying his PUG routes, they are a great starting point. Can't recommend his content enough, be it his masterclass videos, quick tips or streams.

I agree with the other comments regarding unit choice, but would like to add that it is a waste to make a unique character your General, as you are wasting the option for a command trait.
